FACT: Most people will want to physically see an RV before purchasing it. Be extremely leery of buyers that are willing to purchase with very little information or without actually seeing the unit.
Signs your buyer inquiry is likely a scam
- Buyer suggests using a bank check, money order or wire transfer to make payment
- Buyer wants to us a freight-forwarder to pick up your unit
- Buyer is willing to pay more than your asking price
- Buyer wants to pay you extra and then have you pay a freight-forwarder
- Buyer is using an international email address. Many classifieds scam originate from overseas. Be sure to ask more questions if the person contacting you uses a foreign email address.
- Buyer uses broken English in his/her email. While this is not necessarily a definitive sign, it suggests a foreign purchase request which is likely not legitimate.
- Buyer is unwilling to give you a phone number where you can reach them to discuss the transaction.

What to do if you believe you have spotted a scam?
- Stop correspondence immediately. There is no need to continue speaking with a scammer.
