Good Time but not overly "Family Friendly" - from TripAdvisor.com

River's Edge Campground is a privately owned campground located on the Black River in Galesville, Wisconsin. We were able to get reservations on one week's notice which was awesome because I know getting campground reservations on any summer weekend in Wisconsin can be difficult. We were warned that this was a "Poker Run" weekend. Well..... lots of bikers and Harleys - some very nice and some a bit scary. I wonder if this is always a party kind of campground or if we just picked a rowdy weekend? There was also a live band on Saturday but they stopped playing by midnight. Some jerk did light off fireworks several times - I wished someone would have enforced the quiet hours. We did have an awesome time with our friends. The pool was very clean (we were told the State of Wisconsin had just made them clean it last week - so that makes me wonder). Bugs weren't too bad. The Black River was definitely the best part! This kept the kids happy for long stretches of time. The kids could walk across the very large river and had fun playing in the sand. Bathrooms were OK - older but not too nasty. Only 1 set of flush bathrooms - but lots of port-a-potties (try to skip those if you can). The playground was a bit run down but my kids didn't mind and had a great time. This wouldn't be my first choice for a first class "family friendly" campground but I would give this campground another visit because of the beach and the fun time with friends.
