Highly Recommended
This campground has made such significant changes in the last year that it unbelievable. Just the entrance to the campground shows pride and self satisfaction that the new owners have shown. Any camper looking for a great area should give this updated campground a visit. Look for continuing improvements during the upcoming months.

Warning Anvil Campground Danger
There are very loud trains that keep you up all night, running right along the campground property. There are two highways running along both sides of the campground. One right along the campground property and the other along the train tracks. Very noisy. The bathroom doors are kept open so you have no privacy when you try to shower. There was no soap in the bathroom when you needed it. The bathrooms where not very clean. They did not accommodate for the campers who need showers. The campground managers offer no politeness or hospitality at all. You do not even get a friendly smile back when you smile. You say hello and they brush you off. I found them to be rude and offensive. Information that they give is miss leading and incomplete. They offer nothing in communicating with the campers. The buses are public and take you to every stop around town before your stop. Then you have to change buses to do it all over again. The pool is very small and closes at 9:00 pm. Congested campsites and they do not give you the site you asked for when making reservations. Arcade games where broken or ate your money. Anvil Campground power washes the walk and leaves you without water and without warning. Nice when you are already in the shower full of soap. Stay Away!

Did the job
We have business in Charlottesville and have stayed both here and Misty Mountain. Both are average, but I would say this KOA is slightly better. The owners checked us in and they were helpful and pleasant. The park is fairly clean and maintained. It was 90+ degrees when we were there and we had hoped to use the pool. It was cold and the water murky so opted not to. The setting is rustic and in the hills of Virginia which I liked but my wife felt it was a little too rustic. Given there are only 2 RV parks in Cville, we'd stay here again if in town.

Very Rustic
I would rate this campground average for a KOA. The employees were helpful when it came to getting information about the local area. The location was about 20 mins out of Charlottesville, which was a very easy commute. The facilities, though we didn't use any, seemed to be kept up. We couldn't get cell phone coverage. The campground does offer free Wifi, which we enjoyed. The pool was average. My only negative I could site is that it was a bit too rustic for my liking. Tons of big bugs! If you like rustic camping you will really enjoy this place.

Don't Stay
This is the 1st and the last time I will spend good money for nothing. $35.00 a night for nothing. The man in charge was rude as all get out, I have never been treated so unfairly. He was not friendly or helpful. I will be sure not to recommend anyone to this campground (if that's what you want to call it). I took my 3 grandchildren there for the weekend and we were very disappointed, the bathhouses were firthy and the bathrooms were firthy, I wouldn't dare let them use either one. Take my advise and bypass this place all together.
