Please do yourself a favor and don't stay at Badlands Ranch. There were 3 of us in our party. We reserved a cabin with a double bed and bunkbeds. The cabin is unbelievably small. Three of us couldn't stand up in there at the same time. The double bed is in a super small room about 1 foot away from the bathroom, which only has a curtain for a door. The bunkbeds are in a skinny area that is also very small. The bunkbeds are very unstable. I picked this place to stay at because of reviews here, I wanted to stay close to the Badlands. Don't make the same mistake I did. Do not stay here.

We recently stayed at the Badlands Ranch and Resort and had a lot of fun. The cabins were fine, but I couldn't rate them above average. We slept well and enjoyed being out in the Badlands. We had a great experience with Mark and Candace who were very friendly and helpful. The owner himself was not that friendly and could learn some things about customer service. They could also put coffee makers in all the rooms, since only a few cabins had them and there is not a Starbucks close by! One of the highlights was riding horses -they might be the only place that offers horseback riding in the area.

We hiked near Cedar Pass Lodge which was closed for the season. If looked really nice, with an incredible view of the Badlands and if we came back to the area, I would be tempted to check those out first. However, I would return to the Badlands Ranch and Resort.

There's no place like home unless it's The Badlands Ranch and Resort! We spent 12 nights in our RV here and really loved it! It's just a comfortable place to be! The owners and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Don't miss their Trail Ride-the Wrangler clearly loves his job and where he is, beautiful, calm horses and the views are great. Wonderful sunsets and community campfires every night. Horse shoes, volley ball and lots of space to walk around! Don't pass this place up if you are in the area.

We had cabin #6 at Badland Ranch, and it was awful. From the moment we stepped in the rickety front door and had our nostrils assaulted by a mothball smell, we knew this place was trouble. The TV didn't work, the shower was dank, and the twin beds were dumpy. Overall, the property was junkie and neglected-looking, with piles of garbage on the Dumpster. What's more, out of several places we lodged during our South Dakota vacation, this was the only place with unfriendly staff (weirdly, they seemed to be the couple who owned the place!)

Forget about staying in the town of Interior; there are no decent grocery stores or restaurants. If you must stay near the Badlands, it's a short drive to Rapid City, where other accommodations are far superior.

And, for a really great horseback/lodging experience, try the Blue Bell Lodge in Custer State Park in the Black Hills. It's in a wonderful wooded setting, the cabins are rustic yet clean and livable, there's a terrific restaurant just a few steps away, and best of all the stable is right there, with awesome horseback riding to be had amid tremendous scenery.

The Badlands Ranch and RV Resort is definitely the place to stay when visiting the Badlands. We stayed in a small cabin with a full size bed and bunk beds. They each have their own room, yet no door separates them. There is a small bathroom with a shower. A fridge, microwave and satellite TV were also provided. Our son loved the place. There was a pool, basketball, volleyball, fishing, horseback riding and even a late night camp fire.

The horseback riding should be not be missed. We went on the morning around around 8am. There is also an evening ride. It was fantastic. Our guide Judy was great. We saw the most beautiful scenery and had an hour and a half ride for a great price. It was the highlight of our trip to the Badlands.

The Ranch also has RV hookup and tent camping so there is quite a mix and a little something for everyone.

Badlands Ranch is a combo RV park and traditional lodging. We stayed in one of the cabins (the "motel" rooms are really small). Our cabin had a double, twin, and bunk beds. Shower and bathroom were OK. Window unit AC helped with the 98 degree heat. Met several friendly people there. Recommend the horse riding trip. Very beautiful scenery. Nice scenery - situated about 5-7 miles south of the park. Please note - there is not a whole lot of lodging option in/near the Badlands. This goes for meals, as well.

Between Disney, mountains, Michigan and places remote my girls always rank "Jake's" as their favorite spot....We thought our cabin was too small so we moved to the big log cabin on the lower level and have since stayed there 4 times! My husband is planning a retreat there for his siblings this summer. Don't expect a fancy dude ranch......just incredible views, very friendly people, great horses, and quiet. Don't miss the sunset ride through the Badlands or the pie of the forest and pancakes at the restaurant next to the National Park Visitors Center. Badlands has hikes with levels for every fitness and a great junior ranger program (ranger led night hikes are great too...we saw 7 shooting stars).....then back to the ranch for hot dogs over a campfire. Be sure to get your supplies before you get to Interior or your selection in town is sometimes limited to Pringles, peanut butter, and fishing lures...we learned! My oldest daughter likes to take a tent and camp while we are there.....You can see the Badlands from the corral....but the kids only have eyes for the horses! The people staying in RVs there seen to really enjoy it. Usually a nice sociable crowd around the campfire...but you can also have all the privacy you want too.

We found the Badlands Ranch & RV Resort in a web search. The pics on the site, though beautiful, don't do it justice!

We stayed in a one-room cabin for 5 with one small bath. There was a small fridge and microwave. Everything worked. The cabin was clean, solid, very well appointed and reasonably priced. The grounds were immaculately maintained and there were homey touches everywhere! The RV sites looked great and although I didn't check out the common bathrooms, I would expect them to be fine as well. Tent camping here would be neat.

The scenery could not be beat! They have horses available on the premises for hourly riding or just watching. The Badlands are clearly visible. They have a pool and pond and the place is quiet! There is a grocery store nearby in Interior South Dakota but don't plan on eating at a restaurant. There aren't any in Interior.

The best part, though, is the people. The hospitality was wonderful and genuine. This would be a great place to stay any time you went to the Badlands. It is a bit remote, but that just adds to the ambiance of the Badlands experience. Access is easy from I-90 via Interior.

This is a great place.
