Pirateland is for my family and me! - from TripAdvisor.com
We keep our trailer stored at Pirateland just so we don't have to worry and they bring it to the site and pick it back up. We have been camping for about 16 years and have stay at other campgrounds, but this one is better by far. We started when our daughter was about 10 and now that she is 26 she brings her family to Pirateland. Great family atmosphere! If you want to party, please, stay somewhere else. But if family and fun are what you want, this is the place for you. Plenty to do, mini golf, swimming, bingo, tennis, basketball, lazy river and all kinds activities going on. The staff in the office is always helpful. The staff in maintenance works everyday to keep park nice and clean. Clean laundromat, nice camp store, arcade and snack bar. We love Pirateland!

OK but not for me - from TripAdvisor.com
I think this is a place that families with bad kids go so they can turn them loose. To many golf carts with kids driving them at all hours during the day and at night. Fireworks going off late at night hitting the roof of the camper. The sights are so close together you couldn't fit a greased bb between them. The sites and beach area not the cleanest I have seen. If you like crowds and a lot of kids running around this is the place for you. Hatteras NC is the place for me!

Hope you do not have a problem! - from TripAdvisor.com

The campground is nice, but the staff is not friendly. We have camped at this campground for years and have always felt it was a shame they did not provide better customer service. After several issues with this camping trip we will be looking for a new place to stay next year!

Great but dog doo on beach - from TripAdvisor.com
We have always enjoyed Pirateland and try to go every year - most of the stay is great except a couple of recent changes -the hot tub is covered over - closed - this has been the case for the past year or so -it is one of the things we have really looked forward too - and now they allow dogs on their formerly pristine beach - this is a shame because ALL the dog owners let their dogs crap on the beach and leave it there - it is so gross-playing in the sand is a health hazard because of this -and there are a lot of dogs, even in the off season! They have great security for the campground but no one seems to pay attention to the beach -it seems to get trashier each year. How sad.

Pirateland is 5 Aces! - from TripAdvisor.com
Over the years we have stayed at every single campground in Myrtle Beach and I gotta tell ya, Pirateland is 5 aces in my book! Now, let's get the negative out of the way first. There is nothing negative! One item I notice, however, and this goes for every campground and hotel on the beach front in all of Myrtle Beach is the use of fireworks. The beach front is not the property of any accommodation, though, and thusly they have no authority to limit, confiscate or stop the usage of fireworks. The city of Myrtle Beach must do this of their own accord. As the Grand Strand is 60 miles long and every 100 yards on the beach has someone lighting of firecrackers, it is really an impossible task. But, I love the fireworks (they're never anything big, mind you) but as we walk along the beach it is so fun to have sprays of color shower around every once in awhile...good atmosphere (and they're so small really that they aren't loud except for a mild pop no boomers). They actually enhance my vacation. But, see here is where Pirateland excels that other campgrounds lack: Pirateland has tremendous security. The place is pretty much locked down at 11 PM and quiet reigns. It is so peaceful at night the wife and I love walking around listening to crickets, ocean breezes and waves. We sit on the beach for hours pondering the starry sky, thinking of shipwrecks and pirates. On to the accommodations. Here you have a variety to suit everyone's wants, unlike some other campgrounds. If you want to be in the shade, you've got it, prefer a lakeside site (either shaded or in the sun)- note, that you can't swim in the lakes as that is unwise to do in the south anyhow due to certain amoebas that can make you sick (but you can fish and paddleboat), and no campground has a lake or pond that you can use anyways, beach front so you're 5 seconds away, there you have it, near the indoor pool and hot tub, near the outdoor pool, it's all yours. Some campgrounds have a common camping area on cement with some grass round each lot where your segregated away from the pool and the ocean but not Pirateland. Bathhouses abound, that are clean and fully air conditioned. I've not seen cleaner bath houses anywhere except one place: (Disney World's Fort Wilderness - those are ridiculously clean). Activities abound, mini-golf, paddle boats, basketball, etc. My big activity though is drinking and swimming in the ocean...I don't know about you guys. A note here, there are golf cart rentals - and it is madness as every campground is (Ocean Lakes is actually way worse for this), but again they have to be corralled by 11PM unless, you are an adult actually going somewhere. At 11PM is, as I stated, quiet time. Oh, and another thing...it's dark, except for street lights, other lights are off, so it is a nice ambience. Your campsite can be as dark or lit as you wish. You can even bring a fire pit, but it must be enclosed with a spark screen. They really keep the place in top condition too, no trash laying around, no peeling paint. As a matter of fact they refurbished all of their buildings over the last 5 years, except the grocery store and laundromat as they don't need it. This is part of the reason Pirateland is rated as a 5 star camping resort by Woodall's. Finally, the staff. I love the staff and here's why: they treat you like family. I told them that my parent's picture was hung up behind the office desk for about 15 years when they had pictures of the campground behind the desk. Well, I had to skip going one year and the next year I called for reservations, and as soon as I told them my name they said "Oh, the guy, who's parents picture was behind the desk." They remembered me out of all the campers there. And I'm sure they'll remember you too! Give them a shot!

Pirateland is the campground in Myrtle Beach! - from TripAdvisor.com
Pirateland is one awesome campground. We have two teenage daughters and we all are entertained from the minute we arrived till the time we have to leave for home. Our girls love cruising the strip on the golf carts, we never have to leave the campground, everything you need is right there. There are so many activities for the children, everyone is so family oriented and courteous. We have made friends with people at Pirateland that we wait all year to see and camp with. I would recommend this campground to anyone of any age.

Love love love Pirateland! - from TripAdvisor.com

We stay at Pirateland every year. Even my wife who has always camped all over the place and likes her variety insists on a trip to Pirateland at least once a year. The staff they have is really top notch and is very thoughtful. I proposed one yea to my wife there and I mentioned it to the staff at check-in that I planned to propose that evening. Well, the next morning on the Pirateland TV channel there was a message congratulating us from the president, Ed Hardee. That really shows me that the staff cares and takes the time to make your visit special. Another great thing about Pirateland is that you are right on the beach and the most you would ever have to walk to make it to the ocean is about 7 minutes. Stayed at Ocean Lakes once and we were so far away it took about 15-20 minutes to make the walk to the ocean! Pirateland is perfect for families as there is a great variety of children and preteen activities such as contests, dances, games, puppet and magic shows, etc. The restrooms are very clean (mind you it is a beach and the floors get sandy and wet but they thoroughly bleach them and hose them down several times a day) and air conditioned which is very nice to get a break from the heat. Actually they clean the restrooms so much it is almost a nuisance as they will be closed temporarily for cleaning. I'd rather they over clean than under clean, though and there is always a restroom about 4 minutes walk from any spot in the place. I've always felt very secure at Pirateland as they have 24hour security. Sometimes while walking at night I am told to go back to my site even though I am 32 years old, so I imagine they really crack down on kids and suspicious looking characters. So, give Pirateland a try, you'll be very pleased at the family oriented good times you'll have...you won't even have to leave the campground...but if you do it is so centrally located that everything in Myrtle, Murrells Inlet North Myrtle is no more than 20 minutes in any direction.

Do not stay at Pirateland! - from TripAdvisor.com
We stayed at Pirateland during the extreme heat wave of Aug. 2007, and our stay could not have been worse. The campground really talks itself up on the web, but upon arrival you soon realize it is just plain trash. The "lakes" are filled (and I mean filled) with all kinds of trash, milk jugs, plastic bags, drink bottles, etc. The bathhouses were covered in mold, scum, and god knows what else. I kid you not when I say that I do not believe that they have ever been cleaned. All of this I could tolerate, I'd even say that it comes with the territory of camping, but what I could not tolerate was the noise levels after dark. In the middle of the night 1am to be exact, someone starts shooting off large fireworks within the campground (which are illegal in Myrtle Beach) and it takes security 45 minutes to put a stop to this! People ride around on golf carts all night blasting music from radios and beeping the horn as if they have nothing better to do, which obviously they do not. We had no choice but to leave and go to a hotel to have an enjoyable vacation, sleep without a doubt is a necessity. I was not expecting a refund, but a discount of some sort would have been nice. When I went to speak to the staff, which consisted of teenage girls that looked no older than 16, I was told Pirateland never gives discounts under any circumstances. Wow, what a way to do business! Not to mention they had instant attitudes and could not have been more rude and uncaring if they tried. If they allow the people in their campgrounds to break numerous laws on their property and keep other visitors up at night a discount is the least that they could do. Save your money and try another campground or stay at a hotel. This experience cost us $200 that could have been better spent elsewhere.

Not As Advertised! - from TripAdvisor.com
The campground was not even close to the representations made in the brochures and on-line pictures. It was dated and overcrowded. The staff was rude and indifferent. There was insufficient room to park a trailer without asking neighbors to re-position their vehicles, bikes, etc. The ponds were scum covered lagoons. The only saving grace was the beach (crowded but very nice) and the store (well stocked and reasonably priced). We will not go back.

Worst trip ever - from TripAdvisor.com
Well I figure this will never get posted but here we go. To start we ask for assistance with a problem that started at the campsite which if the staff had helped the guy get his place there would have not been a problem to start. The site we had reserved had the people beside of us on it and they were gone so we had to go get the so called security to come and they took down the people's tent also they had a golf cart that they should not had so the security took it and then they expected us to stay there this site, we explained to them that we did not want to stay there knowing this family was going to be upset. They seemed really unconcerned but did finally agree to give us another site. Well that's not all this place has rules, but the rules are only for certain one. Please take heed and rethink before booking a stay at Pirateland.

We loved Pirateland. - from TripAdvisor.com
The entire experience at Pirateland Campground was exceptional. From check in to check out we did not have a single problem. The gate guards were courteous and knowledgeable as was the rest of the staff. The campground was convenient to everything. I would also highly recommend Graham Golf Cart Rentals. Most of the attractions were not open as we were there off season, but they appeared to be as well maintained as the rest of the campground. We would definitely stay there again.

Best Campground ever - from TripAdvisor.com
We recently went to Myrtle Beach, SC and stayed at Pirateland Campground with another family. We had a blast! We never left the campground the entire trip because everything we needed was right there. The campground is huge and sits right on the beach. It includes two pools (one indoor and one outdoors) a lazy river, a children's pool, putt-putt golf, three playgrounds, paddleboat rides one of the two lakes, golf cart rental (this was a blast as you rent for the day and the kids loved it). There is an ice cream shoppe and a general store on the grounds and of course unlimited fun on the beach. They had organized events like bubble gum blowing contests, candy bar bingo, scavenger hunts, rubber duck races in the lazy river. It was just fun, fun, fun. Next time I am headed to Myrtle Beach, I wont even consider staying anywhere else!
