Hope you do not have a problem!
The campground is nice, but the staff is not friendly. We have camped at this campground for years and have always felt it was a shame they did not provide better customer service. After several issues with this camping trip we will be looking for a new place to stay next year!

Great Family Focused Fun
My parents bought a 5th wheel about 13 years ago so that they could camp with my aunts and uncles. They started coming to Myrtle Beach Travel Park because all of the relatives bragged about the facility...with good rights. They have been going for several weeks for the past 13 years. They invite me and my siblings on a rotating basis to join them for a few days once they have had time to unwind. My family joined them a few years back and found the campground to be nice. We once again joined them this July and found it even better. My son can ride his bike without fear of injury. All of the campers were nice and considerate. I even slept under the stars one night without fear. The staff was wonderful and there were plenty of activities planned, not that they were necessary due to the natural surroundings. My kids loved the easy beach access although it was pretty crowded at times. The pools and lazy river were great! We dined and shopped within 5 miles of the campground. Everything was close and convenient. Bath houses were clean and beautiful. Although I am not much of a "camper". I prefer turn down service, my children loved it and it was worth it to spend time with family.

Helpful to parents.
We just arrived home from our 7 day stay at the KOA in Myrtle Beach. I am real big on reviews and thought I would help the parents out ahead of time beings I am one with 2 children 10 and 12 years of age. First of all make sure you check to see they have added your children which is a extra charge daily for each one. We arrived there after a 7 hour trip and were told our children would be extra. So I then asked to speak to a manager whom this man named Roger came out and asked me would I like to cancel my reservation or I could trade him my kids for his dogs. Not funny! I was very upset and told him he was very rude. I then did talk to the real manager so beware there. Anyhow the rest of the staff were very nice including the owner. The beach was very scary to get too. I know they say its just a few blocks, well with children it is a long walk and also scary. You have to cross a main Hwy ,which while there 2 children I know of got hit by vehicles crossing. I would not at all suggest letting children cross this without a adult. We heard the ambulance the whole time we were there. We drove and parked over there which is 6 dollars a day to park and in my opinion is worth every dime. There are activities at the KOA for children. My kids were not to thrilled with them though. Little kids would like it though. They have a place to fish which is what my kids did the most. We stayed pretty busy doing things outside the camp thank goodness or we would have had to find another place to stay due to the location and activities. They do have bath houses which are not the cleanest we have ever saw. We camp a lot and I would try somewhere different for the next vacation. Closer to the beach and more to do for the children. I hope this helps other parents like me who rely on reviews and live a good ways away that cannot visit ahead of time to see it for yourself.

Great but dog doo on beach
We have always enjoyed Pirateland and try to go every year - most of the stay is great except a couple of recent changes -the hot tub is covered over - closed - this has been the case for the past year or so -it is one of the things we have really looked forward too - and now they allow dogs on their formerly pristine beach - this is a shame because ALL the dog owners let their dogs crap on the beach and leave it there - it is so gross-playing in the sand is a health hazard because of this -and there are a lot of dogs, even in the off season! They have great security for the campground but no one seems to pay attention to the beach -it seems to get trashier each year. How sad.

Loved it!
We just got back from Myrtle Beach KOA and loved it and will return many many many times to come.

First do not go during May or over Labor Day Weekend which is the times for biker weeks. We went June 6th - June 14th and had no trouble.

I have a lot of info that I will try and share. First when making your reservations it's up to you but I would recommend asking to not be put in cabin 80 or 90. We stayed in 90 and the cabin was fine and it's actually bigger than the other cabins seeing it was a loft but it is on the small side of the campground where the people who work at the KOA stay. We did not have the nice shade trees that the other side had. Which ended up not being to horrible seeing we weren't there a whole lot but cabins 80 and 90 are not what you see in the pictures on the KOA site. Those cabins are on the bigger side with nice lots and tons and tons of shade. The shade lots are further from the pool and store but well worth it. They do have golf carts which you can rent for the week at $190.00 with a $100.00 deposit.

About the cabins themselves. Ours wasn't the one in all the pictures but it was still fine. A small screened in porch.a nice deck etc. If you are a chef bring your on pots and pans. They are very limited. One pot one pan a few cups a few plates. Nothing fancy. There is also a microwave, toaster and coffee maker. Very basic but fine if you are spending most of your time at the beach or pool. If you are wanting a five star place to sleep this isn't it but if your wanting a nice upscale camp site in a great camp ground try it out.

I have read reviews saying the staff wasn't friendly but I truly have no idea what they are talking about. Everyone we talked to was very nice and willing to help or answer questions. I do have to say they didn't know about current things going on in Myrtle Beach though. There was a very big Sun Fun Fest going on and no one knew what I was talking about. They did look it up on the computer for me though and then could tell me how to get there.

The pools are very nice they have a bigger one more for adults and then they have a smaller one that most of the kids play in and then they have a small maybe 5 by 5 three foot pool. They also added a splash pad and jumping pillow which everyone enjoyed. We have a 3,4 and 8 year old and they all had tons of fun.

The beach is within easy walking distance but you can also go down 6th Ave South and there is parking. It was high 90's and the kids got sick of walking very fast. The Beach is wonderful right of 6th Ave South. It's a lot less crowded than other places.

I have to say the best kept secret of Myrtle Beach has to be Myrtle Beach State Park. The shell picking is great here and the pier is a very cool place to see things being caught. Within a 10 min period we saw a sting ray and three small sharks be caught. Thank goodness they let them all go. If you want to drive 16 miles further there is also Hamilton Beach State Park which is also very nice.

A bit about food. There is a very cool place to eat called Thorney's which is in very easy walking distance of the campground. In side you can order a nice steak but there are TV's at most tables along with an indoor place for the kids to play while the grown up's sit and talk. You are going to pay between 15 and 40 for a meal but if you want a kid friendly place close this is it.

As far as info on Myrtle Beach itself. Broadway at the Beach is a must. We went at least three or four times on our stay. Avoid bike weeks like I said and stay away from "the strip" along the beach hotel at night. There are tons of kids and cars out. If you want to go down to that area at night I would park and walk.

Be prepared for slow, slow traffic on 501 heading into Myrtle Beach. There are thousands of people driving it trying to get to Myrtle beach and many of them are young adults. I am not kidding when I say we saw at least 10 fender benders. Many of them with more than two cars involved. The problem is there is tons of traffic. You start to pick up speed and then someone will slam on their brakes and bam another wreck happens. Be prepared for very quick stops and I would stay off phones during this part of the trip you really do need to be prepared to stop at any second.

We had a wonderful time at Myrtle Beach and the KOA and can't wait to go back. Any questions let me know I'll see if I can help

I almost forgot. If you are coming from the north and need somewhere to stay for the night.
