Had a blast! - from TripAdvisor.com
|
We were invited to camp here on the same site as a friend with a trailer. We had no problem getting in and setting up. The bathroom was close by and surprisingly clean as far as public restrooms/showers go. Yes, the sites are small, but this is Southern California, real estate is prime. We camped with our three kids and then some. There was no lack of anything to do and I would suggest bringing along the bikes because the trails are beautiful.
On the weekends, there are movies on the beach and I would suggest getting their early for prime seating or better yet, sit next to the bonfire and make some smores. The club house pool was nice and yes, there are kids there. Hello...vacation! Although I do have to agree, I wish they would stick to the adults only being on the jacuzzi.
Balboa Island (or is it Pennisula) is one major street away, with all the old shops and eateries. From there it is about a 7 minute walk to the ferry that will take you over to Balboa Penninsula (or is it island). Ferry was $3 for two adults and two kids.
Our friends with the trailer had no complaints on the space, the size, the location, etc. We were kind of worried about whether or not the nights would be quiet enough to sleep as there are many people/kids/teenagers riding bikes, skateboards, etc during the day. Come ten o'clock, everything was quiet.
Basically, don't expect the Ritz because it is, after all, an RV and tent camping park. But if you just want to have some fun near the beach, this is the place to go.
