Convenient, but LOUD! - from TripAdvisor.com
|
Anvil is an extremely convenient campground. It was right near everything. However, we had two horrible experiences. One, the campground is right next to, and by next to, I mean literally 20 feet from a freight train line. We were awakened about every hour and a half by an extremely long, extremely loud CSX train.
Further, the manager of the campground we assume, had a huge and loud Halloween party one of the nights we stayed. We were camping in a tent so between fearing for our lives by sleeping right next to a train track (there was not even a fence and the tent sites are the ones closest to the track!) and being kept up by the proprietor's private party, we were extremely displeased.
We would never stay there again even though it is the closest campground to the Williamsburg attractions by a lot. If you like to sleep, do not stay there either. Oh, and by the way, you can't get a refund on your first night, obviously because they know many people will want to leave and demand refund after they discover the secret of the train.
