Lots to do
|
|
George Eastman House was the mansion of the founder of Eastman Kodak. The home itself can be toured, and it is worth doing. The docents have lots of interesting stories. The gardens are also lovely be sure to walk completely around the house as there are gardens of all varieties surrounding it. Also, attached is a large gallery with photography exhibits and rotating shows everything from new talent, to history of photography, to the most famous photographers. Eastman holds the largest archive of photographs in the country (perhaps the world). The two largest exhibit spaces are reserved for rarely seen and often famous photographers Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Steiglitz, etc. They also have a little cafe, and a gift shop with many many photography books I have not seen offered elsewhere.
