Near the Beach - Sort of.. - from TripAdvisor.com

On a recent trip to Seaside Heights, NJ, we needed an inexpensive place to stay for just one night.
Since we are both avid tent campers, we thought we'd try out the Cedar Creek campground. They had a great website, and after reading hotel reviews of Seaside Heights here, we both felt that it'd be better to get a campsite. The campground is about a half hour from Seaside Heights (depending on the hellish traffic)
After finding the campground (turn right at the first smaller sign you see, not the second, more brightly colored sign) We were surprised to see three large bird cages in front of the office with a couple macaws, a cockatoo and another parrot hanging out in them. They said "HI" to us as we went in to the office.
If you've forgotten anything, and I mean anything camping related, you can purchase it at their office. From tie downs to marshmallows, they have it all. And the ladies behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. They gave us two trash bags, one for trash and the other for recyclables. Which we really appreciated.
We found our site with no problem. The ladies at the office told us the bathhouse near our site was closed, which wasn't really a big deal. While we were setting up our tent, a staff member came down and opened it up. (bonus!)
The bathhouses were spotless. Spotless! And smelling happily of bleach. My only issue with the bathhouse was no paper towels or anything to my hands with. But that wasn't a big huge deal.
The sites are nicely sized for tents. On sand/pebbles with lots of trees. They are bordered with telephone poles (laying down) and although we were one of three tent campers that weekend, it seemed like there is lots of room between sites. We were able to pull the car into the site with the tent, fire ring and a picnic table.
Behind the campground, there was some construction site noise (trucks backing up, that kind of thing), but that ended at night and all was peaceful.
There is a pool available, but it wasn't open yet, and two different nice looking playgrounds for the kiddos.
This was a good place to stay, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to stay near the Jersey shore without spending a fortune to stay in a cruddy motel.
