Stay Far Away
I don't have enough characters to write it all here. This place is bad. They lied about the site. Wouldn't refund money. All sites are bad, river is low, 34 dollars a night for a tent, not a good atmosphere, in the back yard of subway and a smokehouse. We went to subway next day and could see our tent. No room. No privacy, couldn't even pee behind a tree, no tree's at all. Our site right next to playground. They lied about it. Bad location, bad price, bad site('s), no quiet time, sites on top of one another. No Privacy, people live there full time, not a campground atmosphere, Loud, No one follows rules, we had kids come to our site and tie stuff to our tent while we were out kayaking. All in all please stay away, we've never been so upset with a camping trip.

Good First Impression But No Follow Through
Our first interaction started off with my wife an I getting conflicting information from the staff about rental availability. Once we got the dates sorted out things seemed to improve. Upon arrival we were thrilled with how clean and modern the site and facilities were and how safe an environment it was for our 4 year old son. From that point on things started going down hill. The daily towel service turned out to be only 2x during the week. We would arrive home most days to be greeted by the dirty towels we had left in the designated pick up spot that morning. After one day trip we arrive back to find a broken window in our trailer. This was remedied by a couple of pieces of duct tape (no removal of the glass, no offer of another trailer or motel room). The last strike was when we checked out one day early (the night of the 26th) due to bad weather. We remembered later that night (after the office was closed) that we had forgotten two jackets in the trailer. We called first thing the following morning, before the cleaners or new renters had entered the trailer and advised the desk clerk of the jackets we'd left behind. She was going to have them brought to the font desk that day and we were to call when we returned home to arrange to have them shipped to us. Well it turns out that she never followed through with her commitment and three more calls to the front desk over the next 10 days, with three more promises of "I'll look into it and call you back" resulted in no returned calls. We had a similar scenario last year at Rogers Campground (just up the road). Our son had left his beloved "lamby" in the room. We called the next day, they retrieved lamby from the laundry and held it at the front desk for us to pick up. This was our third trip to the area in as many years. Our first stay at Lantern Resort...and our last.

Base camp for day activities
Beech Hill Campground is conveniently located. It is a short drive to many White Mountains attractions. There are many roomy and well-spaced camp sites - some open and sunny, some shaded. Nice views of Mount Washington. Some road noise (nothing intrusive) but you can limit this by reserving a site further from the road. We stayed in Cabin 47 for a week and found it private (nearby sites were empty) and comfortable. Bathrooms and showers near the camp store were clean and roomy with free hot showers. Bathrooms and showers near the laundry were a bit less clean and a bit more cramped. Campground recreational facilities leave a bit to be desired, but there is so much to do in the vicinity that you'll probably be out and about most of the day anyway. The owners were cordial and not obtrusive. The week we stayed the campground was very quiet and I was left with the impression that boisterous partying would be discouraged. If that's what you're into, this may not be your place. But if you are looking for a nice place to spend some quality time around a camp fire with the family after the day's activities, give this place some serious consideration.

Disappointing stay in cottages
Our entire family rented four cottages over Father's Day weekend for a get-together. There were 7 adults and five children ranging from 7 to 17. From the moment we arrived we felt as though we were being watched. The owner told us that our dog could only enter our cottage, all of the others were off limits. In addition to telling us about this rule, she went and spoke to every other family and repeated it. My stepson brought his $500 bicycle inside to protect it from a torrential downpour, and was told by the owner to remove it because the linoleum floor was new. They were very unfriendly. Each night we cooked together, made a campfire, and sat outside. The kids ran around, rode bikes, went into the pool, and used the rec room. They had a blast. Those of us from the older generation stayed on a few days after the children left for some R&R. Unfortunately one of the cottages we were staying in had a septic problem, which meant relocating in the pouring rain.

Beware Dont stay here
Apparently I should have done that before I booked it. I, too, had the same experience with the rude woman in the office whereas I was barely creeping in the truck and was yelled at to slow down and also she came on the intercom at the gate and yelled. I also experienced and older gentleman driving by me on a bike yelling in the truck to slow down. I was actually amused to read that someone else had experienced the same thing and as a note, that older guy was going much faster then me on that bike. We did witness several couples and families leave their sites in the late afternoon, indicating that they were sick of the place and its rules. We found the campground very dark with no lighting at all and pay showers??? were a little much. It seemed like people there were to be seen and not heard. As there was some rain, I dont think we saw the total wrath of the staff there. Its safe to say we will never be in that campground again. Not recommended for families, children, couples or anyone under the age of 75.
