Lunatic Managers
|
We booked a specific scenic space in this park a year and a half in advance to celebrate our anniversary. The week proceeding our visit I spoke to someone at the park on the telephone and confirmed our reservation.
When we arrived, we proceeded to drive into the reserved space when the female manager came out and told us we had to back down to it, although our rig is small and we had plenty of room to turn around. After debating with her, we agreed to do it her way.
As we were in the process of turning around, the male manager stormed out in a rage, yelling "Get out, and don't ever come back." He was totally out of control, and never explained why he was acting in such a threatening manner. He refused to discuss whatever the problem was but just kept screaming at us to get out, and threatening to call the sheriff to have us arrested. It was bizarre.
Sensing that we were not welcome, we left, and will not return.
We have stayed at this park many times with our camping club, but will not do so again unless the management is changed.

It's all how you handle it!
|
|
We stayed at Little Mexico Campground for the first time on Labor Day. It was crowded and very busy but I felt the staff was in control and friendly. On Sunday morning we woke up without water. One of the owners was driving around with gallons of water notifying guests of the problem and offering water for coffee & general clean-up. She even offered my mother a ride to the other side of the campground where there water was working. This situation could have been horrible but the staff went out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible until they could fix the problem. Great Job guys!

Great Place For a Family Stay-cation!
|
|
Fantasy Island is a great campground to stay in. There is something for everybody. Lots of scheduled activities to keep the kids busy, along with an inground pool, playground, mini golf, and lots more. All within 20 minutes from America's largest free admission amusement park, Knoebel's. All of the people in the campground are very friendly. It's an all around fun, family friendly campground. A great place to take your family to get a way just for a stay-cation. Or worth the trip from anywhere for a vacation.

Great Value for any length stay
|
|
I really enjoy living at the Krazy K. The owners have a lot of pride in this park and have made some pretty big investments to provide the campers with a really nice place to stay. They recently built a clubhouse with a big-screen TV, pool table and exercise room. They have a clean pool and spa as well as separate, enclosed, men's and lady's restrooms and showers. Water, electric, sewer and WiFi internet are provided as part of the price. They have nightly, weekly and monthly rates ($400/mo).
The owners are working to establish themselves as a destination now and have done a lot to make it such. I really enjoy staying here.

Deluxe Tent Camping
|
This was our first Family Tent Camping trip ever and we were fortunate enough to go with two other families that had camping experience. Overall this was a WONDERFUL family trip and we learned a lot for next time. In fact we are already planning our next trip back to Fort Wilderness in the spring.
RESORT REVIEW: Fort Wilderness is 100% Disney, meaning that it is very clean, well laid out, the staff is super nice, and I'm not sure where they put all the bugs.
Check-in is relatively simple. You have two options here; (1) is to use the drive-up check-in window. (2) is to go inside the main building. Either is fine and we used both since we had three separate campsites. The other consideration is if the car line is too long, you might have better luck inside. You can also setup your Golf Cart during check-in to save some time.
The Tent Campsites are all very similar. Small paved driveway to park your vehicle and a large sandy pad with a picnic table, water and electricity. They also seem to be setting up cable at each site, but ours was not ready. The sites are relatively close together, but not too close. The Comfort Station (aka Bathroom) was located near the front of our loop and short walk from all the campsites. Super clean, hot showers, and serviced regularly. For any other novices, I highly recommend doing a test run to setup your tent, air matresses, sleeping bags, etc, prior to your actual trip. This will reduce the stress and help you to start your trip on a good note.
Many of the activities are centrally located (Movie, pools, etc). The kids really enjoyed the movie each night as well as the smores. While Disney does sell all the smores supplies, I highly recommend bringing your own as prices seem to have gone up.
The onsite general store seemed to have reasonable prices considering it is on disney property. They have a decent selection of the basic items and will likely have you covered in any emergency situations (eg. diapers).
Transportation in and around the campground and Disney definitely takes longer because everything is so spread out. Renting an EXPENSIVE golf cart (my only complaint) is helpful to get your around Fort Wilderness, but everything else requires a bus or boat. Make sure to plan extra travel time if you're scheduled to be somewhere else on Disney property.
OTHER TIPS: - Get there early with plenty of daylight to setup your campsite. - Since it is Car Camping, bring anything you might need/use. - Make sure to bring any necessary tools, like a good hammer to drive in your tent stakes. - Bring Christmas lights to put on your tent to make it more festive. - Use a checklist, GORP has a good one here, http://gorp.away.com/gorp/gear/practical-advice/car-camping-packing-list.html

Great for kids
|
|
We stayed at this KOA with our grandson this summer. The weekends were crazy with lots of kids, but they were having a great time. We didn't use the bath houses, but the rest of the facilities were clean and kept up well. We saw a lot of staff at all hours. Overall it was a good experience. We would go back with kids, but would stay somewhere more quiet without the grandchildren along. Take extra cash, they have lots of "rentals".

Beware before you book your stay. The no-see um are so bad. My entire family developed allergic reaction. There's no way you can run too. They go through all screens.
The owner will not honor any refund - Never pay more than one night at the time.
The shower will be about $5 per person for may be 5 min. The out-house is far away and not very nice.
