A weekend in paradise - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
Pulled in late (about 10:40) and they were still open. Staff was tired but still friendly and helpful. Even brought us some leveling boards for the deluxe site we booked. BBQ was great (try the ribs) though it is cash only. They also rent bikes for children (and there were a lot of them here!) All and all it was an 8.

KOA In West Yellowstone - Great Clean Campground - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
We spent 4 days at the KOA in West Yellowstone in July. We had one of the deluxe cabins. Our son's girlfriend had never seen mountains before and was just overwhelmed by the scenery in West Yellowstone and Yellowstone Park. Our cabin was great. It was clean and very comfortable. We even got to make smores outside in the fire pit that as readily available. This campground has many amenities (indoor swimming pool, hot tub, bikes to rent, breakfast, dinner, great stopre to shop). Steve, Laurel and boys do a great job. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Great Service Great Location - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
We stayed in one of the cabins with our daughter and her husband for our first visit to Yellowstone Park. We enjoyed terrific service with a wonderful breakfast. The scenery was breathtaking with picturesque Lionshead overlooking the campground. We were also fortunate to see elk, moose, eagles and bears. The campground was well located to explore the areas rivers, lakes and the national park. The restrooms were very clean and functional. We would recommend this campground to anyone who would like to be centrally located for exploring the West Yellowstone Park area. The gift shop and the internet service was very useful for us during our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Don't believe everything you read - from TripAdvisor.com

We love KOA's. I stayed at this campground on July 30, 2008 with my family and had an excellent stay. The fees were a bit pricey but fit with the prices for food and gas in the area. We experienced no problem with staff or managers as described in other reviews. Use your best judgment as I believe the previous three reviews are from a reunion group camped across from us that got out of hand and would not behave. They had law enforcement out one night in order to put this group to bed. This is a great location outside of town in a very scenic setting. Could not be better. My kids loved the pool even though it was crowded. We also went horseback riding at the ranch next to the KOA.

Won't stay here again! - from TripAdvisor.com

We have stayed at several KOA Kamp grounds and usually enjoy them but this place was terrible. It is a nice setting but if we could have found another place we would have left, as it was we were planing on staying a few extra days and did not due to the treatment we received. We were told we had to purchase any fire wood we wished to use from them and so even though we did we did not use it as by the time the sun was setting and we wanted to sit around the fire and make S'Mores we were told to put it out and go inside as it was almost quite time. I don't know about the rest of you but quite time means sitting around the fire, roasting marshmellows and relaxing not being forced inside to watch a movie and go to bed. I can do that at home. The Staff was ok but the manager thinks a lot of himself and is no help, actually down right rude.

The worst place i have ever stayed - from TripAdvisor.com
|
Yellowstone Montana:
My family recently had a reunion at the West Yellowstone KOA. What a big mistake! We were treated absolutely horrible. Like children mostly. We were told we could not be out after dark, and also had to turn off our lights. We were unable to have a bonfire and roast marshmallows with our grandchildren due to the time restraints on us. The swimming pool was a nice pool, but was so chlorinated that it actually burned the children's skin. And we found human feces in the pool area. When we told the management about it they simply said that it was probably our people anyway. The water pressure was so bad that we were unable to shower in our motorhomes/trailers. When we asked the management about it we were told to leave and go some place else if we did not like it. I can not believe they stay in business acting the way they do. Of course it is at the entrance of Yellowstone National Park. It also is quite expensive for a camping park. $72 a day for pull thru sites, and $170 for a cabin that sleeps 4. We wouldn't have minded the price, had we got some decent service. There are several other places to stay other than the KOA. Just 5 or 6 miles either side of them is a great camp park. I know we will certainly use one of these next time and if you all are smart you will do the same. I do hope this alerts others as to the type of place the Yellowstone KOA is!

Worst KOA experience ever!
|
|
This should have been a great family vacation but it turned into a nightmare. We spent the previous nights at the KOA in Great Falls and had a fine experience but this place is run like a concentration camp.
We were told be quiet before quiet hours began at 10PM. We were told to put out our small marshmallow campfire without an explanation. We were harassed by the managers and security from the start of the trip.
When we voiced our concerns to the owner they responded with insults and threats to forcibly kick us out.
PROS:
We were not forced into involuntary slave labor
CONS:
Early forced bed times
Poor shower pressure
Dirty bathroom/showers
Over chlorinated pool
Rude staff
We were not escorted to out assigned spot (typical KOA protocol)
Threats from management
$81/night fees even with discount card
If I were to go to W. Yellowstone again I would stay at one of the many other available campgrounds.

West Yellowstone KOA the best! - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
We've been going out to Yellowstone every year and we always stay at least part of our vacation at the West Yellowstone KOA. This year we booked a cottage and it was great. Considering they're practically right outside the west gate of the park, they could charge a lot more. I checked out other cabins and campgrounds in the area and they were all ridiculous prices compared to the KOA. My family even enjoyed the steer right outside our cottage this year, (behind a fence of course). Every time we came out of the cottage early in the morning to head out to the park, the steer would stop and watch us. It was hilarious. The many horses next door were also nice, you feel like you're really out west. We love it there. The view of the mountains from all areas of the campground is fantastic. In the summer they have a great breakfast and cook out evenings, too. And the huge log cabin/indoor pool is beautiful! We'll be back every year for sure.

True nature... not at KOA - from TripAdvisor.com
|

We stayed at the KOA in West Yellowstone for our family reunion. Right away I was less than impressed with the lodging. I do have to say that I knew what i was getting into when we booked our stay. The place is ok but in my opinion very overpriced for what you get.
