A little slice of hell on earth
Hidden Valley Campground is located between two wonderful resources: The Canon Valley Bike Trail, and the Canon River, this campground near Welch, Minnesota is one to avoid! The web site promises a tranquil stay in a picturesque setting, however the proof is in reality. Despite the 10 mph rule, there was much exhibition driving. The 11 pm quiet hour was largely ignored by the many drunk guests. There was an unleashed dog wandering around in the women's bathroom. I heard chain saws being used, and heard fireworks being shot after quiet hours. All this despite "rules" against such activities. "Amenities" are sparse electrical hookups, water... from the bathroom sink, a playground of dilapidated equipment, and bathrooms... which were poorly maintained, and just plain disgusting! Between the ceaseless noise of boom-boxes blaring, the cursing, screaming, and gnashing of teeth till all hours of the night, and the filth and stench of the bathrooms, you will feel like you were literally transported to the bowls of hell!

Horrible Hidden Valley Campground
We camped in a tent this past weekend and had a horrible experience. The college crowd was up drinking, playing loud music until 4:00am! We got no sleep. The owner was no where to be found. The office was closed. He did not enforce his 11pm-8am 'quiet time' like he listed on his website! The bathrooms and showers were disgusting! Rotting wood stalls, broken toilets, tiles missing or falling apart in the shower stalls. Nothing was clean, but the inside of our tent! The campsite's pictures looked great, but when we got there...it was a horrible shock! We stayed one night and left as fast as we could. Never going back! Not family friendly at all!

Deliverance meets Tornado

We set out to camp at Hidden Valley in mid-July 2008, and instead got quite a shock when we showed up. Not only were there abandoned cars everywhere, but a storm the week prior had knocked over seemingly every tree in sight without a hint of a cleanup effort, and the open spots that we could find that looked remotely usable were littered with beer cans and who knows what else!?! Basically, it was a bizarre nightmare, which is a shame, since it's location couldn't be in a more beautiful part of the state? I'm hoping that they were just having a bad week... regardless, we high-tailed it out of there, and decided not to go camping! Although this experience didn't ruin our vacation, it did indeed take quite a bit of the wind out of our sails... there's no way I would recommend this place after what I saw?
