Great for Kids But.....
We have been coming to Normandy Farms Campground for about 5 yrs. Spend about 1 week a year here. Past 2 years we have had things stolen from our site. Booze from the cooler etc... We have also had our cars broken into and a camera stolen. When we informed the office they were not very helpful and seemed to ignore the problem. So lock up everything and bring your stuff in at night. Other than that its a great time for kids.

Decent location
I would have given this campground a higher rating, were it not for their very un-customer friendly policy of not booking specific sites.

I booked a week long stay for August 2008 back in March 2008. I was told at that time that they did not book specific sites. At the time I reserved there were plenty of sites available in the areas in which I wanted us to be booked, or so I was told. I was assured that it "probably won't be a problem" for me to be in the area in which I preferred.

Upon arrival we were placed in the site absolutely furthest from where I had requested we would be. When I expressed my displeasure at this - having reserved five months earlier - the check-in person informed me that we could stay somewhere else if we didn't like it.

Then. The site they sent us to was incredibly unlevel and we couldn't get the camper even despite our leveling jacks and extra wood blocks. We had to move one site further AWAY from where we wanted.

So. We had a rocky start at this campground. Some of the staff REALLY should not be in the customer service business - about half fit into this category. The other half were friendly enough I guess.

The campground itself is nice. The family pool area was fantastic and the bathrooms (albeit 13.8 miles from our site) were clean. The cleaning staff chose very inconvenient times to clean them though - 8-10 in the morning, prime shower-time!

The laundry area was small, only two washers and dryers, one of which was broken when we were there.

My kids liked the arcade just fine.

Free horseshoes to borrow to play.

The pond access swimming area was really small and a seasonal resident there warned us to be on the lookout for garbage in the water. A walk on the dock showed us, sure enough, cans and bottles (some broken) in the tiny swimming area.

The campground was clean overall but I was dismayed that there were no recycling receptacles near the dumpsters.

Location of the campground was pretty conveniently located to Old Silver Beach and downtown Falmouth. It was definitely quiet and peaceful.

Overall we would probably stay here again but we weren't terribly impressed with the first impression.

Campground was fine - truro township was not
My husband and I camped at Hortons the week of July 13th. We has a nice secluded site in the adult only area. We had no problems with the owner or the other staff. The campground wasn't full but after speaking with other visitors on the beach - other campgrounds around the area weren't full either. We enjoyed our secluded, wooded site and had a very peaceful vacation. This campground wasn't KOA but it wasn't nearly as bad as some that we have stayed at in the Carolinas and Florida for amenities. The title "resort" is misleading. There is running water and free hot showers and a place to do your dishes. We would stay here again.

Beware of the town of Truro Beach office and your car sticker placement. After deciding we would frequent the town beaches, we purchased our weekly beach sticker from the town office. We received no instructions written or otherwise on window placement from the staff member who did not seem to be highly motivated.. Since we had a brand new car, I placed the sticker inside the rear window - clearly visible - because the sticker is a permanent one. We returned to our car and found that we received a $50 fine for an "other" violation of town ordinances. (We didn't have it on the outside of the window.) So, our first day at the beach cost us $80. Locals told us that there have been problems with people "trading" stickers on cars. I said, "how can that happen - our license plate number and expiration date are on the sticker?" It's clearly a money making scheme in a small town looking for revenue and they are laughing all the way to the bank. We are sticking to the national seashore in the future which actually allows for more flexibility!

Campers Beware!
I know this is a long review but read it...I obviously didn't do my research before going to this campground and after seeing what other people have been through i shouldn't have held my tongue. My friends and I went camping on the cape last month and saw Hortons online. It looked like a really nice campground, clean, well maintained... when we got there it looked deserted. I went to the window to ask for a site and the young man said we would have to get 3 sites because we had 3 tents. Which, right away, didn't give me the red flags that wow, this place sucks. Then out of no where this old bag comes out and says "are both of the vehicles here?" I replied no, that we're from CT and two other people are coming later with another car. He said "We cant help you then." Confused my boyfriend said "What if we pay for everything now and then they can check in later?" The old man snapped and I quote "Let me try this again, We don't take reservations and we can't help you!" Shocked, my mouth dropped to the floor. It took everything inside of me to pull myself together and not jump through that little window he hid behind. I couldn't even move.. I looked at my boyfriend and said we'll find somewhere else to go. Outside our two friends looked confused that we were so upset and were shocked when we told them what he had just said. I am in customer service myself and when I told my boss, the owner of the company what had happened on my vacation he was floored. How can anyone treat someone like that and expect them to still be a customer? I don't know how he is still in business. He needs to take a step back and look at himself and if he sees a good person then hes got some major problems... don't even bother going to Horton's. Go up the road to Adventure Bound. It was such a cool campground. Before I could even tell them about what happened at Horton's they said "wow, we're sorry, you should have come here first." And they were right.
