Old fashion fun
I love this place. It's cheesy and hokey but it makes me, at 40, feel like a little kid again, so i drag my family here every year. This year I dragged another family along with mine and all of the kids ages 3, 5, 8 and 13 loved it. For the older ones it was so low tech and old fashioned, it was unlike anything they had ever seen and they loved it. They wanted to go back a second day! From the gun fights to the stagecoach, the can-can show and the train ride, we all got into the spirit of the old west. The park is small and you can see the whole thing in about 2 hours but they have various shows staggered through the day at different times. On the down side: I would suggest wearing bug spray because due to the horses there are a lot of flies here. And we used to get an old fashion photo taken here in costumes of our family ever year, but last year the miserable jerk who runs the photo business made our picture taking experience so aggravating that we decided not to go anywhere near him this year. He has a big mustache and needs to change his attitude towards working with people. If he can't stand working with people to take their picture, which is how he acts, maybe he would be happier shoveling up the horse manure alone in his grouchiness. Anyway, Frontier Town is one of my favorite places to go in this busy high tech world we all live it.

Great hiking and a view to boot!
If you enjoy hiking, you will love Elk Neck State Park. It is a large park, with boat launch area, various picnic areas, surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay. But if you want a great hike, keep driving all the way to the end of the little peninsula. There is a parking area, and an obvious nice wide trail. The first part of the trail is along the mud cliffs and the view is stunning. The trail runs through woods, then a large meadow, back to woods, and ends at the Point. There is a very small lighthouse, not usually open (check ahead for times), but you will have a 180 degree view of the Bay. It is lovely, and peaceful (usually!). If you are adventurous, walk west along the point until you come to the woods, and there is another, narrower trail back. But be prepared for some steepish hills both down and up. Watch for butterflies in the meadow area this is a well-known spot for them! The town of North East is quaint, shops charming, and seafood pretty good.

Don't go!
When we arrived we thought we were in one of those scary movies! The kids said can we leave! The campsite is on a busy highway and was trashed! We came out of the office and all smelled like stale cigarettes. We were brave enough to take a look at our cabin, wow! What was it! Maybe a cardboard box? The picnic table was broke and really small. The kids were yelling let's go mom! Oh I could not hear them over the highway next to us! We rolled out quick, the owner was really nice and gave us a refund though.

Greedy!
We just arrived from this camp to get sleep! If you don't mind trains keeping you up all night you'll be fine.
The owner is really greedy , after telling them we we only staying or a night since we wanted to see how the kids would do first..they told us the water and electric site we were given was unavailable! Since we didn't ask for two nights we got a plain site.
Next, the kids got tickets from the arcade games to trade in for prizes. They had a ticket left and asked to trade it in for a tiny piece of candy less than a penny . The lady told them no you don't have enough tickets!
Oh , no privacy! The office people drive by every five min in a golf cart to watch you! Every time I took a bite of food there they were!
They have a rule (there are signs everywhere!) No swimming after eating or drinking! Sorry is this a jail? I will do whatever I want after I eat!

Great place for a little excursion
I just stayed at Jane Island State Park from July 12-14.
Positives: camp sites were well-maintained, and not too close to one another, although I've seen more secluded layouts. The bathrooms and showers were above average for a campground. The water is right there, providing a beautiful backdrop to your camping experience. The staff at the camp store were nice and accommodating. We rented kayaks and had a great time out in the water. A beautiful array of wildlife hangs out at the marina. Plenty of people were pulling fish and crab out of the water on a regular basis.
Negatives: since you're right on the water there are more bugs than normal. the back part of "loop a", where we stayed, is adjacent to a big parking lot, so it's not the most picturesque setting- you're very aware of it until the sun goes down. poison ivy seemed to exist in not so out-of-the-way locations. We had a patch 2 feet from our camp fire, which could've been a problem at night. The town of Crisfield leaves a lot to be desired. We went to buy seafood and found it to be below average (the scallops were yellow and the woman helping us was smoking a cigarette when we walked in). We went to a nearby grocery store and the smell inside was sour. We drove 40 min to a Food Lion to find a decent piece of meat to cook, and I'm not a food snob. Lastly, don't go here for the hiking. the trails are short, flat, buggy, and not even close to being exciting. They really shouldn't advertise this camp site as having "hiking".
That being said, we had a good time and would go back again some time in the future.
