4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Frontier Town Offers Enjoyable Outing - from TripAdvisor.com
I read some of the other reviews and felt that they might have had grander expectations than I had for Frontier Town. What I was looking for was a place to spend an enjoyable day with two young boys (ages 7 and 9) in the middle of summer during a heat wave, without spending a whole lot of money. This place was perfect! It isn't a high tech amusement park, but a place that just offers wholesome fun. I think the boys ages are absolutely perfect, they are young enough to use their imaginations and actually become one of the cowboys as they mine for gold, ride the train, the stage coach and enjoy the interactive street plays. The $12 admission price included all the rides and the shows. They went on the paddle boats at least four times. They loved their trip to the barbershop, where they received a shave and a mustache. They each spent some time exploring the jail and selecting an appropriate sign for their time in the pillory.

You can pack a lunch in your cooler and return to your car and eat outside of the park (just remember your receipt to get back in) or you can eat in the park for a reasonable price. I think it was $5 for a hotdog, drink, and chips.

There were a lot of younger children there who appeared to be having a great time. This park might not offer enough thrills and excitement for the preteen group, but I think if you are going with children under 11, they will have a great time. Overall, well worth the $12 for an entire day of fun.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Old fashion fun - from TripAdvisor.com
I love this place. It's cheesy and hokey but it makes me, at 40, feel like a little kid again, so i drag my family here every year. This year I dragged another family along with mine and all of the kids ages 3, 5, 8 and 13 loved it. For the older ones it was so low tech and old fashioned, it was unlike anything they had ever seen and they loved it. They wanted to go back a second day! From the gun fights to the stagecoach, the can-can show and the train ride, we all got into the spirit of the old west. The park is small and you can see the whole thing in about 2 hours but they have various shows staggered through the day at different times. On the down side: I would suggest wearing bug spray because due to the horses there are a lot of flies here. And we used to get an old fashion photo taken here in costumes of our family ever year, but last year the miserable jerk who runs the photo business made our picture taking experience so aggravating that we decided not to go anywhere near him this year. He has a big mustache and needs to change his attitude towards working with people. If he can't stand working with people to take their picture, which is how he acts, maybe he would be happier shoveling up the horse manure alone in his grouchiness. Anyway, Frontier Town is one of my favorite places to go in this busy high tech world we all live it.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Frontier Town is no KOA people, but it's the best in Ocean City - from TripAdvisor.com
I've been going to Frontier Town since I was about 10yrs old. I am now 30. I love this place. I've stayed in this campground in everything from a tent to campers, to renting the cabins. Though their costs is a bit pricey considering this is not a KOA, it most certainly is the best place in Ocean City. Our group every year goes for Memorial Weekend. The ages consist of wee little ones to 50+ yr olds. We have a group about the size of at least 25. We have never been split into the two campground-but then again we do reserve by January. The parts of this place that could use some TLC is the bathhouses, I believe they are the same ones I've been using for 20yrs. And, the staff (the ones who work the front desk) could use for the most part attitude adjustments. I will continue to go with hopes that it can only get better. Then of course after Memorial Day, I quickly head over to The Hilton in Ocean City for the much needed pampering!

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars A whole lotta nothing - from TripAdvisor.com
Went to Frontier Town in late summer of 2006, so supposedly the park was winding down for the year. So I can forgive the fact that a lot of things, like the steam engine and bull ride, were 'inoperable'. However, didn't stop them from charging us full price to get in.

The minute we walked in, we regretted spending the money. This place is pure, unadulterated, overpriced shlock. There is nothing there! A dust bowl. The only thing our sons reasonably enjoyed was the gunfight at the end, which was over in the blink of an eye.

I would only recommend this place for much younger kids, or kids who absolutely love anything related to the 'wild west'.

In retrospect, I wish we had done the water slides adjacent to the frontier park instead. Much more reasonably priced and looked like much more fun.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Fun for little kids - from TripAdvisor.com
My wife used to go to Frontier Town when she was little. It's very similar to when she was little. They have a stage coach ride with a robbery, a can-can performance in the saloon which was funny, some shootouts, an Indian pow-wow, and a bull riding show. We didn't think much of the bull riding probably because we're just not into that sort of thing. The kids enjoyed getting cap guns and cowboy hats.

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars Going down hill - from TripAdvisor.com
My family and I went last year for a weekend and thought the park was great. It was very clean and neat and the employees were very polite.

A lot can change in a year. I've just returned from a trip staying 1 week at Frontier town. We had a large group so they split us up between Frontier town and Fort Whaley, their sister-camp-site which is about 10 miles away. When we made the reservations we were told that we could still meet at our campsite at Frontier Town so we could congregate for camp fires / dinner time, etc. When we arrived however we got another story. They wanted us to pay for each person visiting from Fort Whaley every day they came and even when the problem was escalated to the manager and put in the computer they still gave us a hassle every day and they were not polite at all about the whole thing taking the attitude that "I don't know what you were told but our policy says you can't" even though the arrangements were made a month in advance.

Cleanliness has also gone down hill. The first night there I went to use bathhouse C and on my way in stepped into a pile of human feces. I threw my shoes away of course. Compared to the previous years where the bath houses were always clean this year was awful. There was also trash in the woods along the "nature trails" from campers (I assume) tossing out watermelon rines and corn cobs.

Lastly, the wild west shows seem to joke and play around a lot with weapons. Even the part where they show you how much damage a blank will do to a milk carton was done in jest and I wasn't comfortable with my kids watching grown adults play with guns. Serious gunfight re-enactment would be acceptable, but horseplay with a gun is never acceptable.

This place has gone down-hill in a shot period of time and I won't be going back.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Great Place for younger kids. - from TripAdvisor.com
We went to just the waterpark part of Frontier Town. I think we paid about $12 a person for the waterpark and all you can play mini golf. Which is a steal. They have a bunch of fun slides that don't have huge lines. When a young child is in line, the people who stay at the top of the slide and tell you when to go signal to the bottom and a person stands right by the slide in case the child has any problems.I was really impressed by this. They have a great lazy river that my kids loved. Its great for relaxing and getting some sun. They have plenty of chairs and tables, but get there when they open to get the best spots. The restrooms/changing areas were very spacious and clean. Bring lunch with you! They have a snack bar, if you don't mind spending $3.50 for a hot dog. They also have a very large kid area where the water is only about 2ft. They have slides, floats, water sprayers, the works. The only thing was the lifeguards seemed to be constantly blowing there whistles to signal kids to stop doing something. That got old. No wave pool, but then again, its only $12 for a full day. If you have kids between the ages of 2-14 they'll love it. It was a great day and we will definitely be back.

2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars Could have Skipped It - from TripAdvisor.com
Went in August with kids (ages 5 and 1.5) and it was just ok. Not much for them to do. The gun fights scared them. The train robbery was fun - a bit scary at first but then the robber started making corny jokes. The kids liked interacting with the Indians. The older one took lessons on how to shoot an arrow (of course that was an additional charge). We did not try the water park or the small amusement park (both additional cost). We could have easily skipped this attraction. May be better suited for older kids or those really into cowboys/Indians/Wild West.

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars Not What It Used To Be ! - from TripAdvisor.com
I have to start out by saying that as a child I have very fond memories of Frontier Town. I can remember visiting the park practically every year and loving everything about it.

Needless to say, the last time we were at Ocean City I decided to take my two kids (ages 7 and 5) and my wife to the park. No one had been there before except for me and I was excited to have them experience the "Old West" park.

It appears that the Frontier Town of yester-years is gone. The park now seems to be run by "young" adults and the character acting was hard for even my 7 year old to stomach. It would seem that now the park only relies on getting you in and offering you a bunch of shops to buy western memorabilia.

I will admit that I will not return to Frontier Town. It was a total waste of money and did leave me disappointed. I guess everything changes and what was once good can't stay that way forever.

3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars Awesome ice cream - from TripAdvisor.com
It was OK, train robbery was cool, though scary for little children. The staff was rude though, the actors in the fake gunfight were really nasty to the children who asked them questions. But the best thing here was the food! The fries were awesome! On par with the delicious fires McDonalds made pre-2004. Though the fact that kids can dress up as confederate soldiers is disturbing, the place is good. Kids will love the availability of cap guns to play games with.

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars Splash mountian on the strip much better - from TripAdvisor.com
We packed the kids up early to get to Frontier Town just to find out they had hight restrictions for there water slides even if held by an adult. They had no postings of this at the entrance just big signs that said no refunds. We asked if they could measure our son to see if he would meet the hight requirements and they said no he would have to be measured at the slide. To get to the slide you have to pay and if he didn't meet it no refund. Needless to say we passed and went to Splash Mountain on the strip which happened to be much larger with plenty of water slides for both older and younger kids.

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars Ripped off mud hole - from TripAdvisor.com
My teenager and I reserved a tent ground with water and electric for 3 nights, $189.00. When we arrived we were given 62E tent ground that was covered with muddy sand and water. The office agreed to move me to another area, but we would be too far from our group. The following day it rains again and left 2 inches more water and muddy sand every where around us "“ it was awful. I went by the reassign site thinking I should have taken it, but it was flood out too. I told the office that they knew the areas that flood when it rains, so they should have added gravel or dirt to raise the ground. People were riding around in golf cart and taking pictures of our flood out tent. The office didn't try to help, so we check out without any refund. When I got home I check out the cost of hotels in the Ocean City and found that Holidays Inn room rate starts at $53 per night comparing to $63.00 per night at Frontier. I would never stay recommend that ripped off place.
