We visit the Skowhegan/Canaan KOA at least once every year with our tent camper and two young boys. It is close enough to home (less than an hour from Bangor) for an easy weekend trip. This is definitely a family campground with lots of kids running around to different activities and entertainment areas. Great for kids

I was quite disappointed upon arrival as our site was very close to the neighbors on both sides, so much so that my dog had to be restricted to a 4 ft leash. Also, the intercom system they utilize to order staff around was a bit disturbing and I wondered why they haven't invested in walkie-talkies. However, after the Friday night crowd arrived, the intercom was only used to inform campers of the activities, which I found very useful. We scouted...

This was a great place for the kids. Lots of activities, games, rides on fire trucks. The grounds were very well kept - Staff walked around daily to keep it litter free. Showers were clean, pool clean, grounds clean. Store well stocked and staff very friendly. We stayed in one of the on site cabins and found it a perfect compromise for "camping" with young kids.
