Simply the best place to camp on the Saco
We have been going for the last 10 years with a group of friends and have always had a great time. We love camping on the Saco River and have always gone to Shannon's Sanctuary. The owner (Marsha) has always treated us very well, always accommodates us, and is very helpful with anything. Easily a 5 star place and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who plans on camping on the Saco River.

Fantastic!

I go to Shannon's Sanctuary as part of an annual trip with a group of friends and I'm always impressed with the hospitality of our hosts and the actual grounds. I would recommend Shannon's to anyone. The bathrooms are clean and they really helped us in getting our tubes to the launch.

Great time, great people!

My group of friends have been coming here since Marsha opened the place and keep coming back. They always been so nice to us unless we've gotten a little loud and understandably we've been told to quiet down. They are always happy to make you a cup of coffee in the morning with a smile on their face. It's so much fun tubing down the river for a day trip knowing you can leave your campsite up and not have to worry about it while you are gone....

Like Family To Me
We have been going to Shannon's for about 8 years now and we absolutely love it. The rivergroup campsite is amazing and the owners, Marsha and Paul have treated us like family. They're friendly and accommodating and we couldn't ask for a better place for our annual Saco trip. The bathrooms are clean and they offer everything you may need in their store. We'll be continuing to camp here for many years to come.

truly a sanctuary
This is our 5th year at Shannons Saco River Sanctuary and it is truly a sanctuary for us. We appreciate the fact that it is quiet during quiet hours and that it is enforced. The owners are very accommodating and helpful. I would recommend this campground highly. We plan on coming here as long as we can.

Never going back.
We had been returning to this campground for the past 3 years, and its been great until this past trip. For some reason this time around we were treated as criminals and nit-picked for every little thing. We hadn't done anything to earn this kind of treatment. By the end of the evening we were being yelled at with profanity (which woke up half of my party), watched from behind the trees, threatened to be thrown out, threatened to have the police...

Peaceful
Shannon's Saco River is the best of both worlds. Natural tenting sites along the banks of the Saco River and well landscaped RV sites with creature comforts. Nice big recreation field and playground. This is not a wild party campground but sure is a lot of fun. The management is very accommodating. Facilities are very clean and well maintained. Great family camping.

Annual tradition
Three generations of our family plan an annual camping trip to Shannons Saco River Sanctuary. The first generation, 89 and 94 come to visit. We have camped along the river in most sites, as well as camping in riverview. Management offers us coffee in the morning, transportation of our kayaks for floating from the Brownfield bridge back to our campsite. We have forgotten stakes, ropes, tarps, and even a bicycle for one of the grandboys and they...
