4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Nice Campground but overpriced - from TripAdvisor.com
We stayed at Jellystone over Labor Day weekend. The park was packed...every site was filled. We had booked our site in May; we stayed in site 10. It was a very nice site that backed up to a large field. The site was not too large but not small either...we had plenty of space. I would definitely stay in this site again. We stayed in a 33 foot travel trailer.

The activities for the kids were great! We spent most of the time in the campground participating in these. Our 9 year old son was really excited about these and the waterslide. Buying the "length of stay" bracelet to participate in the mini golf and the slide is well worth it.

The only bad things we can say is that when we asked if they had certain things (ketchup, ice cream from the snack bar, for example) we were met with a smile saying that "no, we don't have that" or "no, we are out". I felt like they did not plan for the crowd that was booked. Also, the game room did nothing but eat our quarters. Most of the games did not work. When we told the staff, they apologized and said they would return the lost coins but they never did. During craft time, there were stuffed animals that the kids could be stuffed (like build a bear). My son wanted to do that. The woman running the stuffing machine actually yelled at him for pushing the foot pedal too hard or not letting up on the foot pedal at exactly the right moment. I actually had to have a talk with her about my son never having done this before so he didn't know exactly what to do. I was very disappointed with her interaction with my child.

Overall, it was a nice campground with a lot of activities for the children. I think it was overpriced though. I also think that the planning for such a large crowd could have been better. I also think the staff could use further training to be more child friendly.

We stayed in one of the log cabins. Very nice! The cabin was 2 rooms equipped with a/c, coffee maker, flat screen TV, shower, bathroom, 2 burner stove, mini microwave and toaster. It was extremely clean. We stayed in Cabin 9 (there are 10 in a row and we were next to the end). It was a perfect location. Right across from the playground and pool. We bought length of stay wristbands for the kids for $15 and they did the waterslide and mini golf all week. Highly recommend you do the same. The slide is quite a hit. The staff was friendly. Only real complaint was that the beds were not so comfortable, but, hey, it's camping. My husband, who hates to camp, even loved it and the wi-fi Internet service (complimentary). I highly recommend this place for families. There are a lot of activities, but we were too busy touring Mammoth Cave to do many of them. We did the New Entrance Tour (my favorite - but you have to be able to climb steps - 550 of them) and the Historic Tour. If you are worried about Fat Man's Misery, I think you will be fine if you are 250 pounds or less. It is not as tight of a squeeze as they make it sound - but you do have to walk sideways and wind through a little area.

3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars Jellystone - Ehhh its ok - from TripAdvisor.com
My husband and I stayed in one of the Amish cabins at Mammoth Cave Jellystone. I would definatly rate this place for kids. The cabin is ok, if it was clean we would have enjoyed it more. There are cobwebs everywhere within the cabin, the towel bar is broken in the bathroom and there were two lightbulbs not working. Also beware, Cabin 17, the T.V. reception is terrible. Also the T.V. is hung so high it is really hard to try to enjoy the T.V. at all.

The pluses are having the fridge, stove, microwave and coffee maker. Its also nice to sit on the porch and eat outside.

The staff are great, always had a smile and willing to help. I didn't report the problems as we are running around and want to stick to our schedule.

If you have kids this is a great place to be, if you want a quiet place to go, I would find somewhere else to be.

5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars The best for camping ever! - from TripAdvisor.com
Wow. That's all I can say. Everyone that stayed with my family group (me, Sherry, my husband, Gary, my sister, Julie, my nephew, Damien, my son, Jake, my other son, Mason, and my daughter, Sierra) all had something to do at Mammoth Cave Jellystone. We drove to Kentucky from Minnesota with my Dad's mini-van. We left on June 8th at about 7:00 AM and got there at about 4:30 PM. When we got there, we checked in at the ranger station, went to our two-bedroom cabin(I really recommend that cabin if you had a group like I did), unpacked and headed to Mammoth cave, where we took the Lost River Cave tour. It is only about an hour at the most, yet tons of fun and very interesting. After that we went out to eat at Old Country Buffet. We got back to our cabin at about 8:00 PM. We went to a outdoor movie (There's an outdoor movie theater there!) and came home and slept. We got up early in the morning, showered, dressed, and went to the Lincoln Museum. After that we went back to Mammoth cave and took a historical tour about the history of it. Then we came back to Jellystone and the girls' went out shopping while the guys' went out golfing (if you want a golf cart, reserve it when you check in. That way, it's way easier to assure that you will have one when you need one). When we all came back to the cabin, Sierra and Damien went out to make crafts while Jake and Mason went to a watermelon eating contest, and Julie, Gary, and I went shopping for souvenirs to put on the kids' beds so they would be surprised when they came back from their fun day. We got them each a t-shirt and little Yogi bear mini-statues. After that, we just relaxed in the cabin, the adults' playing cards, Damien and Jake playing on the PS3, Sierra reading, and Mason sleeping. Later we all went to bed. When we woke up, we showered and dressed and headed out to a waterpark/amusement park called Beech Bend and spent the whole day there, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. We went back to Jellystone where they were hosting a huge bonfire and we roasted marshmallows and made smores. Later we went to sleep. The next day, we got up, showered and dressed and spent a relaxing day at Jellystone swimming in the two pools, going down the waterslide, playing mini-golf, watching an outdoor movie and then going to sleep. The next day, we spent the whole day shopping in one of the malls that we had found while driving around the area. We bought probably around ten bags of clothing. Later we went back to the cabin where we all played Yahtzee and went to bed. In the morning we got up, showered and dressed, and headed out to do some grocery shopping. Later we took a dip in the pool and mini-golfed some more and went to the pet park to see some of the pets people brought. After that, we saw another movie and we hosted our own fire, then went to bed. The next morning, we got up, showered and dressed and drove 2 hours to Six Flags(located in Louisville) and spent the entire day there. After that we went back to Jellystone, took one last dip in the pool, and played the PS3 some more, then went to sleep. In the morning, we once again got up, showered and dressed, packed up, and left on June 15th at 10:00 AM. We got back to Minnesota at about 7:30 PM. My whole family was so sad to leave. The reason I posted my whole schedule up here is to show you that if you stay at Jellystone, then you'll never be bored. Jellystone truly is the best place to camp in Kentucky. If you would like the websites I used for the places I went here they are.

WE have been going to Mammoth Cave Jellystone for 7 years and we love it. Everyone is like family. My son is going to be ten this year and he wouldn't go anywhere else. I also have two older boys, one 19, one 22 they still love camping there. We pull a trailer down every labor day and memorial weekend. There is something for everyone, karaoke, teen dances and water fights with the whole campground. You also make a lot of friends to meet up with and watch families grow. There is something going on hourly for the children from 9am Saturday until 8at night. Lets not forget the Yogi hayride! We cant wait!

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars Watch Out. Don't Let Their Bed Bugs Bite! - from TripAdvisor.com
We had a "Bungalow" to sleep 15 people. The cabin had 4 bedrooms with a kitchen in the middle. No sitting room or gathering room, no couches or other chairs (besides the ones at the kitchen table). When 15 people are gathering to stay in a cabin together, they are going to want to have somewhere to hang out! The internet listing said (particular to this cabin) it had TV with newly installed satellite and DVD player. NO TV . This was great for the adults, but would have been good for younger kids in the evening to watch a movie. Oh, the temp outside was right at 100 degrees. The temp inside this cabin with the "air conditioner" at full blast...set at 62 degrees...was 82 and climbing. After their 3 or 4 attempts at trying to fix it, claiming it had just been serviced and cleaned a week or so prior, finally admitted it had not been serviced. Duh! So we are miserably hot with nowhere to sit at this point. After feeling completely sweaty and disgusting, time for showers. Cold water only. Yes, the cold water was a bit refreshing at first, but we, as most, prefer a warm shower. Our poor little kids had purple lips when they got out. Same thing next morning! We complained and they came and fixed it. Upon waking up after our first night, our littlest child had red itchy bumps on the back of his neck and both arms. Others felt itchy and had bumps as well. Looked around, didn't notice anything OBVIOUS, and dismissed as mosquito bites or some other bug bit. Next morning, was worse. We noticed the sheets on our bed, as well as pillows, were covered in little, dark red spots. Everywhere. Apparently, after these bugs gorge themselves on your blood, when you roll over on them, they splat. Isn't that a charming thought? The pillows and linens where our own that we brought with us, as they do not supply anything in this cabin. Not even a can opener or trash can liner to be found. Anyway, my husband went in and began investigating the beds. Sure enough, he began picking up, with the blade of his pocket knife, a ton of little black, flatish bugs. Bed bugs. We about freaked out. Everyone began ripping the sheets off the beds and getting all clothing items out of there and outside. We where shaking them out and going through all other boxes. On the floor in the cabin, there were lots of little black spots. Well, we looked closer and realized they were smashed bed bugs. We'd noticed this from day one, but thought it was just a dirty floor, to go along with other issues. We packed up our things, minus all the bedding linens, blankets, our clothes (swim suits, PJs, shorts/tops, socks..everything). All this was left and we demanded that management take responsibility and clean and ship our items back to us. The management, of course, claims to have never had any complaints about bed bugs, and wasn't a problem "Until we showed up!". Yes, I'm sure that's the case. And we also inserted all those bed bugs into the mattresses, as well as the tiny , old, blood stains that we found all along the seams of the mattresses. I called back down there after a week plus of coming home to check on our clothes, ect. They said they had an exterminator in there and all was clean. Oh yea, while we were there, they had said an exterminator was just in there a week before we where there, and they had said nothing. Apparently the exterminator and the air conditioner guy skipped out of work those days! Anyway, the owner returned my call. I asked if they got rid of the mattresses. He said "no, but we steamed the seams on the beds and put a new plastic bed covers on them". Can you imagine?! Did I mention we payed $214.00 A night for this no air-conditioned, tv-less, cold-water shower only, no place to sit, no family room, bed bug infested hole?? Well, we did, but I also demanded a complete refund, which they gladly gave us. I got our clothes delivered yesterday. We are going to wash them all ourselves, at a laundry mat. Definitely not in our own. Needless to say, we'll never go there again. I warn others to watch out. You won't sleep tight...and the bed bugs might bite!

This is a really fun campground. We went on June, 30th 2007 for 3 nights. Our campsite was pretty rough. We never could get our pop-up level. After looking around at the other sites we saw that most are uneven. If you can overlook the actual campsite you will have a great time. We took our 1, 6 and 9 year olds. They loved it. They did bubble gum, corn and watermelon eating contests. They did crafts and mini golf. There were a lot of other activities that we just did not get to. The pool was great. It was a little crowded on Sat. but fine after that. They also had a ball on the waterslide. Some of activities do cost extra money, but it is only like $2 per child. We took their bikes but it wasn't really safe to ride due to the hills and rough terrain. Overall it was a great campground for people with kids. If you don't have any I would not recommend it. Cave City was a little scary. It looked a little like a 1970's scary movie. P.S Cave City is a dry county , so BYOB. My hubby drove 38 miles to get some beer!

We love Jellystoneat Mammoth Cave! Of course you have to remember when you go there it is a campground not a five star hotel! This is our 2nd time staying in the same cabins with our two children! This past time we also took our older neighbor girl! It really give you the chance to have fun with your family with out the interruptions of phone and TV!. Our kids cant wait to go back!

5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars A great place to stay while you're visiting the caves. - from TripAdvisor.com
This is our second Labor Day weekend that we've decided to stay at Mammoth Cave Jellystone. The owners (Bill & Kay) have done a great job of turning this park around since they bought it in 2005. So those who haven't been here in a while should check it out again.

Those that have never been to a Jellystone before might find the theming a little different. Embrace it and let the kids enjoy themselves.

Don't forget the water slide. It is 300ft of pure wet fun that your kids will want to spend all their time on. There's plenty for the kids to do so the parents can just sit back and relax. So don't be surprised if the kids would rather stay at the campground instead of going to the caves.

Another nice feature about this campground is that a majority of the sites are pull-through. There is also a lot of shade. The terrain in this area is hilly, so biking is a little challenging. They rent golf carts, but you'll need to get them early.

We'll be back again sometime next year. This is now one of our annual stops.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Lots of fun for kids - from TripAdvisor.com
We just got back from this Jellystone. We rented a cabin and had 6 kids with us. What a blast! There were crafts daily for the kids and the boys loved the fishing at the small but stocked pond. Even if the activities seem basic, that is all the kids wanted. The girls spent hours making necklaces. The pool was very clean and plenty big.

The cabin was surprisingly clean and had air conditioning (thankfully). The grill and fire pit were very useful, but the full size fridge was the best amenity.

We did the Historic Tour at Mammoth Cave. It was nice to see, but not very pretty. Having been in some beautiful caves, we were a bit disappointed. The Intro to caving tour was great if you are adventurous!

This was a very fun place to stay. Great for family bonding!

We just got back from Mammoth Cave area and stayed at Jellystone park ...W as very disappointed in the cabin we stayed in ... Campground was nice and they had lots of activities, but for the money we spent, we definetly expected more ... First the cabin was covered in flies. (Had to go to Walmart and buy fly catchers). No television, no ventilation in bathroom whatsoever ... very small and crapped ... would not go back there and stay in the cabin again...Then the door on our cabin wouldn't lock...Nothing like we expected.

Positives are location to Mammoth Cave, lots of amenities, very friendly employees, very good pool. Negatives are showers & rest rooms not in the best of condition, very dusty roads when it hasn't rained.

All in all, the campground needs to be updated a bit but the campsites themselves are good and spaced nicely, with good water and power. Lots of things for kids to do and plenty of attractions nearby. If they did something with the bathouse, I would have graded them higher.
