This place is run down and dirty. The management is rude and unappreciative of any guests. I would not stay there ever again! This park is overpriced and outdated. I was afraid to let my kids ride the run down delapitated rides throughout the park. Beware: No refunds ever!

Should have paid attention to the reviews pointing out how bad Indiana Beach is. Didn't stay first night and lost deposit; hope to not let it happen to anyone else. Cottages are old, and smell; numerous uncontrolled, drunk loud guests in neighboring cottages. The amusement park is old and shabby. The $2.50 per person admittance fee does not include anything but admission to park and has to be paid in cash. And if you're a fan of arachnids this will be heaven, literally thousands of spiders everywhere. Occupied webs are on light posts, rides, fences, food stalls and shops.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Had a great stay at IB campground - from TripAdvisor.com
My 2 younger children and I just had a fabulous stay at Indiana Beach campgrounds. Our site was beautiful, fairly private and close to the ferry to the amusement park.

We stayed Thursday through Saturday and it was very peaceful Thursday night and a little loud on Friday but not bad at all.

We thought what a previous reviewer referred to as "white trash village" seemed to be a nice area full of mostly grandparents enjoying their summer with the kids.

The park itself is great fun, and while obviously dated has a lot of fun rides, is reasonable and rarely crowded during the week. My kids went on Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball express 20 times each.

I highly recommend this place for people who like to have fun, don't like to wait in long lines and don't take themselves too seriously.

I have been going to Indiana Beach since I was little. We have always stayed at the Indiana Beach campground. I loved it then and I still do. Now I take my kids and they love it just as much. I love the fact that the lines are not very long. Indiana Beach may not be a huge amusement park like Cedar Point or Kings Island but we have just as much fun if not more. At least at Indiana Beach we can pretty much ride all the rides and more than one time. The water park is really fun and refreshing!

OK - Not good from the start, and to make the story short we never stayed.

I was trying to book some place to stay at Indiana Beach for my dad's 70th birthday. My father has always said that he would love the whole family to stay somewhere together. Indian Beach is a good central (kinda) location for my family with some being in Chicago and other downstate IL. A total of 23 to book for with 1 family was going to camp, the rest stay in cottages.

I read all the instructions about needing to bring linens, and stuff, not my favorite idea, but for the price I figured we can handle it for 1 weekend! I Book Indian Beach Camp, a 10 sleeper and 8 sleeper near each other and the Camp grounds. I was told a $50 cancellation for the reservation (so I understood). I then went to read the other reviews in this page. I got scared. Emailed a few people and got more scared with what I heard.

Good part of the story: I found a better place to stay!!
Bad part: I canceled my reservation which was for Labor Day weekend, that I booked in April. They had my reservation 1 week, and I canceled, and I was charged $100. They weren't even in season yet. UGH!!!

They got $100 because I booked 2 cottages they say that was 2 reservations. Looking back I can see their point, but that was never explained, they only say $50. I complained, only 1 week reservation, still had 5 months to re-rent...come on. All I got was "that is policy nothing we can do. We just work here".

Talk about crappy customer service. If this is the service I get for booking the place, then image the stay. BTW - I had issues with getting the reservation correct to begin with, twice! The first time she booked for Memorial Day not Labor Day, and the second time the date range was wrong. And the reservation person each time had an attitude with me. Again Nice customer service. NOT!

So, my advise, read everything about Indian Beach Camp before you book and be sure you are ready for it...because you get to deal with rude reservation people, and if you book more then 1 cottage in one reservation, it is $50 per cottage!

PS - no photos to show you the cottages...they don't want you to see, IMO!

My family has been camping in our pop-up for 6 years at Indiana Beach and this was the worst experience that we have had by far. Our stay began on Friday with a check-in procedure that was completely unorganized and overcrowded with no instruction. Although signs were posted that quiet time began at 11:00 loud music was still being played until after 12:00 and people were still setting up sites (including inflating air mattresses with portable air compressors) until at least 1:00am when I finally fell asleep. The loud music continued all day and into the night on Saturday. We were surrounded by people who believed that everyone around them should enjoy the same music that they do and at maximum volume! The only time that we saw campground security was Sunday after midnight when a man and a woman with a small child were involved in a screaming match in front of our site, which eventually involved the police. The argument continued on for at least 1/2 hour with several squad cars and campground security involved. In conclusion, while there may be more than corn in Indiana there are more than enough idiots that stay at Indiana Beach Camp Resort to make it worth avoiding at all costs.

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars Indiana Beach - Vacation at Your Own Risk - from TripAdvisor.com
We stayed at the IB campground. If you are a true camper, then stay away from this place! The camp store sells cigarettes and beer, if that tells you anything. The campground lets people set up camp for the entire season, filling their sites with tacky silk floral arrangements, gnomes, Xmas lights, etc. It's a little white trash village. At night, when in a normal campground it would be quiet, they all get drunk and get in heated arguments. Quite tacky, but mildly amusing to listen to.

The campground bathrooms looked clean upon first glance. Upon further inspection, there was mildew growing in between the grout in the showers and an unknown brown substance coming through the ceiling. Thank goodness we had just bought a new camper with a shower!!

We took the tram to the amusement park, and as soon as we left the campground, we entered the 50s/60s. There are all kinds of cramped, old looking "resorts" along the way, with cabins smaller than my bedroom at home.

The amusement park itself is old, dirty, and totally run down. The majority of guests looked like they had just come off a bus from rural KY. The rides are old, and more than once we saw people working on the rides, which made me feel uneasy. The only pluses are that despite all this, we had fun, the rides were fun, and the food was good and cheap.

Oh, and were there smokers! They were everywhere. It was thoroughly disgusting. They were allowed to smoke freely throughout the park. There should be designated areas for smoking. It is generally accepted knowledge that the majority of smokers are litterbugs, and I stepped on my share of butts, and also saw several floating in the water.

If you can't afford to go anywhere else than IB, then save your money so you can afford to go someplace nicer next year.

5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars Yearly family reunion - from TripAdvisor.com
As I grew up we had a family reunion every year in Illinois. I married and had children, who now have children of their own. My sister moved down by me and my brother had children who live out of state, and we wanted our children to get to know them. So we have started going to Indiana Beach each year with about 25 family members getting together. The children have a great time and we have rented the white duplex and this year we have 1/2 of one of the new duplexes also that have been built. With farm bureau coupons and CVS receipts the kids go to the park almost daily in good weather. In bad weather we stay in and play games and just have fun getting together. We take our pontoon boat down and fish and boat ride. We are all looking forward to going again this year. Look out Walmart here we come.

This was our 6th year to have a mini reunion. We have had the two duplexes each year plus last year we had another cabin in front of the duplexes. I understand that the cabins in front of the dupexes have been torn down and two more duplexes have been put in their place. Looking forward to see what the new duplexes look like. The kids are getting older and will be able to go to the park by their self this year. They know the rides and have their favorites. During the week you can get on most rides without waiting in lines for too long.

1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars1.0 stars Vacation at Indiana Beach Cottage - not worth it - from TripAdvisor.com
We had reservations for a cottage for 2 nights at Indiana Beach Resort on June 27-29th, 2005. We ended up leaving after the first night. When we arrived at the gate, we were directed to the main office to check in. There was no available parking spaces as they only had about 4 - 5 spots in front which were all filled. Within the resort, there aren't official streets, so the "street" we were waiting in had no lane markings, had stacked trash dumpsters in the middle of the road, unmaintainable vehicles, and to top it off, while the rest of us were waiting in the car during the check in process, a big school bus tried to get through all this chaos, and ended up backing out. After much back and forth turning around, we were able to squeeze out.

The Cottage
When we arrived at the cottage, (#301) 2 of the bedrooms with a full size bed in them could not fit much else. In both bedrooms, there was about 12 inches between the bed and the wall on the foot side of the bed and the wall opposite the door. The door side of the bed had about 20 inches and the head of the bed was against the wall. There was a small mirror on the wall with a small shelf underneath it, enough room to hold a brush, comb, and deodorant. There was also a kitchen-type chair, but we had to move it to make the bed. That's it for furniture in those bedrooms. There was one dresser in the kitchen for people to put clothes in, and one small closet on the closed-in back porch. Also on the back porch was a single bed. The master bedroom had a full size bed and a single bed in it.

None of the cottages provide any sheets, towels, toilet paper, microwave oven, toaster, kitchen sponge, kitchen towel, or any cleaning products. They say they provide a broom/dustpan, mop/bucket, dishes, cookware, and utensils, but in the utensil drawer there was only a knife, large spoon, and a floppy pancake turner. Our letter said they would provide a grill, so we brought charcoal, but when we got there, there wasn't a grill and we had to argue to get one by showing them their own letter they sent to us saying we'd have a grill. Of course then they said they sent the wrong letter. They finally relented and brought us a grill.

We went into Monticello and there is a Kroger there. We spent about $30 on some utensils, toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen sponge, dish soap, disinfectant cleaner for the bathroom, mopping liquid and heavy-duty foil (the grill they brought was all rusty). When we returned, I went to make some koolaid for the kids and found there was no pitcher or container. I ended up making it in the coffee pot.

The Park ...This is much smaller than the big parks like Great America, but it has the big park prices. $27 to ride all day. Water park is a separate $20. The Water Park/Beach closes at 6 PM every day. The amusement park stayed open till about midnight.

The Pool ... This was awful. The worst pool I have ever been to. Hardly anyone was there and I found out why. It says to shower first but there were no showers in sight. It was in the 90's and I think the pool water was much hotter. Not refreshing at all. In addition I felt something warm touch my leg and it was a phlem-looking glob of goo and hair about the size and shape of a hot dog bun. I was so grossed out. We got out of the pool quick. So much for the "free pool pass" with the use of a cottage.

Conclusion
The best part of this getaway was playing dominos (we brought them, they don't supply any games) in our cabin in the evening. We couldn't see spending another 2 days at this place so we packed up and went. But not so fast... There is a full page list of clean up chores to do in order to get your deposit back. In addition to dishes washed and put away, we had to clean the bathroom, the shower and toilet, wash the kitchen counter and table, sweep and mop every room in the cabin. We waited in our car while the staff decided whether the clean up met with their approval before we could check out and get our deposit back.

5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars Just Can't Get Enough!!!! - from TripAdvisor.com
I've have been going to Indiana Beach since I was just a fetus and haven't missed a year yet. Now I am 23 and we make a big family event out of it with my sister and her kids, my parents, my grandmother, and my family all camping at Indiana Beach for 4 or 5 days Father's Day Week. On Father's Day they have quarter rides, hot dogs, and pop. This is great for younger kids - this way you know if it's worth the money to buy them the p.o.p. ride pass. Plus if you buy the ride pass for a child and they decide to be scared of the rides, Indiana Beach will refund your money. You just can't ask for a better place to be with children - great rides and small lines. Indiana Beach is my Vacation Fun Land.
