Nice, Secluded Place to Stay - from TripAdvisor.com
|
If you're looking for a simple place to get away where you won't be disturbed, this is a good candidate. I stayed in one of the camping cabins, all of which are set in a wooded area. The first thing that hit me was the rustic look and wonderful pine smell as I opened the door. The cabins are simple and small, but clean and comfortable. The common bathroom for the camping cabins (standard cabins have their own internal bathroom while camping cabins share a common bathroom) was also very clean. However, there is only one woman's and one men's bathroom for all five cabins. Since each bathroom has only one shower and one toilet, there is a good chance of lines in the morning if all five cabins are occupied. The only other negative is the campground is right at the Hwy 120 & Hwy 5 intersection "“ so there is some traffic noise.
Overall, I'd give the cabins and campground a good rating. If you're on a budget and looking for some seclusion, this is a good place. However, if you're looking for a nice hotel with a swimming pool, try the Homestead Inn, which is right downtown Shipshewana.

Clean Campground - from TripAdvisor.com
|
We recently took a 'girls trip' to Shipshewana and stayed in the Shipshewana campground location 1/2 mile south of the flea market. The campground is one of the cleanest I have stayed in. They feature pull through lots with electric and water hookup available. Each electric post has a light on it that lights the road for those who are coming or going late, or have to make a trip to the bathroom in the night. Bathrooms include 4 showers and both bathroom and shower area are very clean. Surrounded on three sides by Amish farms, the surroundings are relaxing. No road noise, just the occasional cow or horse noises from neighboring pastures.
