Tight Squeeze - from TripAdvisor.com
|
We pre-booked our stay along with 5 other families and asked that we all be together. When we got there only a few of the families were camped together. The campground was very clean, as was the pool and hot tubs. The playgrounds were great for the kids. It would have been nice if the pool would have been open before noon so the kids could get more use out of it. The sites were very small. We had a hard time parking our 18ft trailer and truck in our site. Some of the families we stayed with rented the 2 bedroom cabins. They were very clean and perfect for a small family. Overall, we were just there to sleep and it did the trick. I think next time we would stay elsewhere.

Jeff Foxworthy would love this place! - from TripAdvisor.com

I called to book a reservation, and asked for a description of the campground. I was told that it was a nicely wooded campground "on the lake", with trees dividing the sites. When we arrived, we were directed to a parking space the width of an RV in a rocky ravine, and close enough to touch our neighbors (both sides). Warped tables, washing machine tubs for a fire pit. The "lake" was a swamp. You could access the lake by going under a LOW bridge, IF you wanted to rent one of their boats. Bathrooms were marginal. Don't plan on a morning soak with your cup of coffee, and no last swim before departure for the kids. Pool looked clean, but does not open until 12:00 noon, although check out time is 11:00 a.m. Same with the hot tub. A very tight squeeze for maneuvering any kind of trailer or large RV, with a $10.00 extra vehicle charge per night (no real overflow parking although we were told that there was). Pay more if you plan to camp with more than 2 people. All in all, a disappointment.

Not impressed - from TripAdvisor.com

I was not impressed with the campground sites were very small! Just stayed there to sleep looks like rental boats and paddle boats were in a swamp not impressed. The pool was clean and everything smelled like cleaning solution. Would not go back there are other parks in the Coeur d'Alene area much nicer!

Nice Facilities - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
KOA Coeur d'Alene campground has recently changed ownership and is now called A-OK RV park. I stayed here for almost a full week as part of a family reunion where we had several tent sites, two cabins, and an RV site. Overall, the facilities at this campground are very nice. The cabins are cute and well-maintained and the pool was clean. As with all KOA-type campgrounds, the sites are very close together but there are shade trees throughout the campground and in the week we were there, it was never full (even on the weekend). The only thing that I would improve about the facilities is that the bathroom showers need more hooks and a little bench for sitting on. The showers were not quite up to the usual KOA standards. The pool, although clean, was quite small. When a lot of older kids were playing, it was hard for little kids to swim. Also, the hot tubs are only available for those over 16 years old. Our younger teens were very disappointed that they couldn't use the hot-tubs. I wish they had a few hours a day where kids could use the hot-tub under adult supervision. In general, the owners of this campground are very nervous and made a big deal out of every small rule and policy. This is the first year of their ownership and they seem very anxious about everything. This wasn't a big problem but it did make us feel a little less relaxed. Overall, this was a good campground for families with little children (there were two play grounds) but it could have been a bit more teen-friendly (along with the no-hot-tub policy, the owners got on our teens' case for playing games after ten pm in an area away from the campsites). All the problems with this campground are fairly minor, however, and I would certainly return. The location, against a mountain and next some wetlands leading into the big lake, was lovely and the campground is not far from all the major Coeur d'Alene attractions.

We loved it! - from TripAdvisor.com

We loved our stay at Coeur d'Alene. It's the first time we've stayed at a KOA and we were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful it was! We stayed in the KOA cabin and enjoyed every minute of it. The cabin was spotless and we found with one full sized bed and the bunkbeds that it was the perfect size for a family of four. The bathrooms/shower was close by-facilities were clean and there were no lines at any time for the toilets or shower. We brought our Chinese Crested and found a lovely pet walking trail right out our front door. Other dog owners were very conscientious and there were no loose dogs on the site. The site itself is really lovely. Although we had the cabin we noticed tent campers had excellent spots to camp at as well. My daughter loved the pool and I used the hot tub-there were two hot tubs available. There is an older couple in their 70s that run it and they really keep this site in tip top shape. I was quite impressed and plan on making many return trips here. It is money and time well spent.

Don't stay in the park model! - from TripAdvisor.com
|
We stayed in the KOA's "park model" for five nights at $120/night. It is a 420 square foot manufactured home at the top of the hill. The website indicated the kitchen is fully stocked, but there wasn't even a can opener! They did have some pots and pans but no serving utensils.
The entire house was dirty, the carpets smelled, and don't even think about sleeping on the fold-out sofa. The bed in the one bedroom was fine, as were the two twin beds upstairs. However, the upstairs loft is NOT safe for small children - it has a railing about a foot high, not nearly high enough to keep little ones from toppling over the edge. I would recommend a nearby hotel instead.
