Dirty bathhouses - from TripAdvisor.com
Jekyll Island is a beautiful place. A lot of trees. Relaxing. Close to the Pier. Great fishing. But the Bathhouse need to be remodeled. We have a pop-up camper so we had to use the facilities. Nasty/Dirty. We have been in different campground, but this one is the worst bathhouse ever. If you do not need to use the bathhouse, this campground is really nice.

We will be back! - from TripAdvisor.com
Do not be put off by the entrance to the campground. It is old and could use an upgrade, but is very family friendly, and very quiet. A little tricky with a big camper, we actually hit the top of our big fifth wheel on one of the oaks and a stop sign, making too sharp a turn, but if you take your time and watch your mirrors, you will be fine. We will just get a pull through site next time.
Yes it is not right by the beach but is a close drive and the beach is not crowded. Doable on a bike but easier with kids and dogs to drive. Very quiet, everyone nice, just there to enjoy the island. Lots of mosquitoes, you are on an island with a lot of marsh. I loved walking across the road and down the drive to the pier, the oaks were beautiful. The horse back riding is fun, just make reservations at the Island Center.
We will be back to Jekyll Island Campground!

Good Campground for Shrimp & Grits Fest - from TripAdvisor.com
With all its moss-draped oaks, the campground can still accommodate a Class A motorhome with slideouts. Sites are average width and level, but they are mostly sand and pine-needles. It gets a little muddy after thunderstorms but dries out quickly. Be prepared from the onset for mosquitos and biting flies so they aren't a big deal this place calls for DEET. The staff here was very pleasant. The campground is located at the very end of Jekyll Island, so you'll need your tow vehicle and bikes. We forgot our bikes and they were ridiculously expensive to rent at the campground so we drove our Jeep everywhere! We enjoyed the peaceful privacy of the campground, and at the island's beaches, we were often alone, us and our two dogs. The purpose of our visit was the annual Wild Georgia Shrimp & Grits Festival which I would recommend highly. Great food, good entertainment. We will definitely be back!

Camground - from TripAdvisor.com

This is a pretty campground with plenty of shade, a camp store, friendly and helpful staff and clean bathrooms. The sites are somewhat close together but it is still pleasant. Just be prepared for bugs and wear bug spray all the time. Bring your citronella candles too.

My favorite place - from TripAdvisor.com
I have been camping at Jekyll Island campground for several years now and it is among my favorite places to go. Some campsites are small, but if you look around you will find the one that fits your need. I enjoy the fact that the campgrounds are in a remote location. You are not bothered with the crowds that are attracted to the beach. If you wish to go to the beach for swimming, they are just a short drive away. If you like combing the beach rather than swimming, the area by the pier is perfect. There is also access to nature trails for walking. Being a single mom, I feel safe and secure at the camp grounds. Also with the prices, I can afford to stay an extra day as compared to other campgrounds I have visited.

The Good and The Bad - from TripAdvisor.com
Jekyll Island Campground is an average campground. The lots are smallish, and it can seem crowded in peak season. It is on the north end of the island and is not especially convenient to the public beach area. Bikes are available to be rented, but the beach would be a long ride by bike from the campground. There is a fishing pier accessible across the road from the campground entrance. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. The attendants are helpful and friendly. The live oaks and Spanish moss add to the charm of the grounds. The rates ($12-$17/ night) are reasonable, and it is a beautiful island for adults and families.

We had a good time, but was crowded no space in camping areas. A pop up was rite in our door almost. I love the history, it's wonderful!
