We stayed one week a Red Coconut during Christmas in 2007. Sites are small, but location is well worth it. Great place to camp for families with dogs. Beach is great and the campground is clean. Proximity to restaurants is great. We liked it so much we have a week booked for Christmas 2008.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Improved and remodeled, GR8 Beach & Location - from TripAdvisor.com
I live near the Red Coconut Campground and walk thru it daily, It goes from Beachfront to almost Backbay except that it borders the Matazas Pass Preserve. The Campground is almost 13 acres. It is located near a Firehouse so you'll hear sirens but you are near Paramedics if needed! A 7-11 is next to the Firehouse and across the street is Junkanoos, Mama Angies Pizza and Anthony's on the Gulf. The other side has Barking Bimini Cafe, a nail shop, Massage@Tranquility Cove, A Souvenir/sweet shop and a Chinese Restaurant. They are located on a Trolly stop. I go over for Sunset and the Campers are mostly Happy Campers. Winter time has a lot of repeat campers and they have get together. 1 couple has been coming there for 51 years. They also have "block parties" with live music/games. Saturdays they have Pancake Breakfast in the clubhouse. Our Beach is white sugar sand, no undertow and about 3' deep until you go way out. Junkanoos rents jet skis and Parasails. Time Square is a 30 min walk, $0.25 Trolly Ride or pedal along the Beach. This is a GR8 location and a fun time. They deal in inches not feet so you will have close neighbors but probably fun neighbors. Its fun to see the place fill up & empty out-they also have rentals available. I love the park-its tropical.

The campsites are close together, however, this is prime beach front real estate. We were thrilled to be able to rent a little slice of the beach for a weekend. The staff assisted in parking our 20' travel trailer and were friendly and courteous. If you love the beach, love to camp, love to socialize, this is a perfect location. We especially like the fact that the bath house was locked at all times with keys given to campers for their access. This was a nice bit of security.

My wife and daughter (both with physical disabilities) just returned from a great 1 week stay at Red Coconut RV Park. Proximity to the beach from our 2nd row site was great. Our neighbors were very friendly and helpful. If you're bothered by close campsites or noise and difficulty traveling on Estero Drive, Red Coconut may not be for you. It didn't bother us!

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Great Place to Relax - from TripAdvisor.com
I was a little concerned about our stay at the Red Coconut after reading the all reviews but not any more. I will agree with most of the reviews about the size of the sites but I have stayed at worse. We were tenting and I have a larger tent then most, so the site that we were in was not big enough for our tent because of the cement slab but we made do with what we had. We did have a tree on our site to give us shad during the day which was a huge plus. The thing that shocked me the most was the Friendliness of all the residents. A lot of the people staying there were retried and live there most of the winter. It was kind of cool to be apart of their little community. We were invited to all of the evening event that they had planed for every day of the week. We even got scolded by our neighbor lady for not showing up for the Tuesday night card tournament. The best thing about the Red Coconut is the beach. It is a prefect white sandy beach and we were less then 200 yards from it. That is where we spent most of our time. Another good thing about the Red Coconut is that it is located near everything you'll need. I could go on and on about our stay but I but want to ruin any surprise for you. I recommend the Red Coconut to anyone wanting a quit stay and relaxing time. Feel free to ask me any question and I'll be happy to answer them.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars More then sand at the beach - from TripAdvisor.com
We have stayed several times at the Red Coconut RV Park. Booking four months in advanced has never gotten us one of the prime ocean-fronting sites. Pads are cracked, sites are never raked or blown either before or during one of our visits. We still go because our options at / on the beach slim. If given a chance we would pay double for a better list of options. This park is not a high class motor-coach park although with its location it could be one. Old tired, rusty models are allowed and pop-ups are a common site. Put all your class-A attitude aside, go to the beach ,pets are always welcome. True beach camping, family fun...enjoy.

3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars Its just ok - from TripAdvisor.com
Red Coconut RV Park is ok, the sites are very tight, the bathrooms are a little rundown. Its 10:30 pm and the people next to us are still outside talking very loud. The one good thing is that the beach is right there, the weather today sucks its been raining off and on all day. But for the most part I would recommend and I'm sure we will be coming back. Oh and if you are like me not a good animal person be proper there are plenty of people with dogs.

5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars Great Summer Vacation - from TripAdvisor.com
Red Coconut Campground is a great place for families to relax and enjoy the beach and everything else Fort Myers has to offer. I have read all the other reviews from people complaining about things falling on their campers to cramped camp sites. We have been coming to Red Coconut for 5 years, we go the same two weeks every year. We went from the third row to the second row. Now we are lucky enough to have front row site and we wont give it up. The same people go the same time every year so our children have grown up around the same campers every year and its fun to see them its like a family reunion. The way the campground does things is a little different than other campgrounds but it seems to work for them. We love stepping out of our camper on to the beach. The kids love playing in the surf, making friends and playing with little or no worries as to where they are and are they safe. The sites are cramped but they are precious beach sites and they make the best out of the little room they have. Look around Florida and try to find a beach campground that is right on the beach. They are few and far between if any in this area. We always bring new friends and family that reserve campsites and now they return year after year. We go over to Junkaroo and have a drink play pool or at night dance. You can go to one of the many tourist or local restaurants that are very good. You can shop in the campy beach stores or go to the library. There is even a movie theatre that is quite nice in Bonita Beach. There is just so many things to love that is over shadows all these petty things people love to complain about. So if your looking for a beautiful beach campground Red Coconut RV Resort is it.

2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars Our Family's Experience - from TripAdvisor.com
Our family of seven booked a 5 night stay but only stayed for 2 nights at Red Coconut RV Park. We didn't like the extremely small sites; the noise of the adjacent firehall; the traffic on the access road (it was painful to go out for a day trip because you could literally walk faster than drive) or the general ambiance of the site. Very difficult to sleep in a pop up trailer because of the bright security lights. The day we checked in we politely said it wasn't our cup of tea and asked to leave after two days. This left adequate time to find another occupant for our site. The staff refused to give us any refund whatsoever for the final three days. So we just left and found a much nicer park for the next three days. All of our children thanked us for leaving. I would have rated the Red Coconut "Terrible" based on our family's experience, but obviously some people like it.

3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars3.0 stars Nice Beach - from TripAdvisor.com
Our family spent 8 days at Red Coconut. Great town, nice beach and the folks in town were very nice. If you have a big rig, be careful! Our beach front site was very small. I have a Pace Arrow 36B with three slides. It took twenty minutes to get the rig on the site and we had to park the front end ten feet off the concrete pad in the sand. The left slides almost touched the power box and the right slide was almost against a tree. The trees drop hard "nuts" on your coach and the trees leave stains all over the roof and awning. Took me all day to clean the coach when I got home.

Better sites up in Destin and a lot closer to SC. Water was not very clear (web site shows clear ocean water). No pool for the kids but they had a blast in the ocean. Don't think we will be back. Myrtle Beach is only three hours away and the weekly rate at the Red Coconut is rather high.

2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars2.0 stars Red coconut, to stay there or not - from TripAdvisor.com
I stayed there back in 2000. It was ok. The beach was nice in itself. But the sites were too close together. I had to park my RV almost sideways to fit in. They told me I could have only one car. This was not mentioned when I made the reservation. When I went in the office, there was nowhere else to put me. The showers were ok. The rates were overpriced, but what do you expect when on the beach? The office staff was very nice and friendly. They did everything they could to help me. The customer service there was above and beyond. The maintenance staff left a lot to be desired. They seemed more interested in ogling the young girls then doing their jobs. This park could be first rate, but I think the owner's have to rethink things a little.

4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars4.0 stars Red Coconut RV: Great way to relax! - from TripAdvisor.com
We've been visiting Ft. Myers for years and love it. In fact, we just returned last Sunday. My parents relocated to Ft Myers and lived in their RV at the Red Coconut for a couple years until recently buying a house inland at N.Ft.Myers. They continue to keep their RV at the Red Coconut during the "winter" months. I'm not an RV'er but I cannot imagine a more beautiful location to camp. You are parked in the sand and literally step out you door to the beach. Located mid-island, the beach is always quiet with room for volleyball (net is always up) or tossing footballs, hitting sand wedges, etc. Bathhouse on the gulf side is OK ... nothing to brag about but they keep it clean. The bayside bathhouse is nicer. We also rented the Red Coconut apartment a year ago (it's above the main office on the bayside). It's very nice and had been recently remodeled. The only downside were the stairs to get up there ... OK for us but my parents were a little nervous. They're actually more steady than they looked. Also, hot water runs cold very quickly so you'd better get your shower before the wife! The Campground and the Apartment are great places and, we think, a great value for that part of Ft. Myers Beach. If you've been to RV parks anywhere and enjoyed them, I'd be shocked if you didn't absolutely love the Red Coconut. Activities are all around you ... kayaks, jet skis, para sails, etc. We love Fernando's Italian (south of Red Coconut behind the Publix) .. on the water and great food. We also like Doc's down at Bonita Beach for casual on the water eats. Don't miss the Edison/Ford Estate tour, Imaginarium (if you have kids) and Baseball (Ft.Myers is home of both the Red Sox and Minn Twins spring training). Ride the Trolley ($0.25) to Times Square if for no reason than to people-watch. If you have time, take the Key West Express over to Key West (3.5 hours) ... we stayed overnight and returned the following day. If you need some out-of-sun time, get in the car and drive over to Sanibel for a day ... a great place just to wander. After hours, walk next door to the Junkanoo and get some Rum Runners ... watch the water, play some pool .. what a life! Been many times now and we always enjoy the stay.
