Morefield Campground is located 4 miles into the Mesa Verde National Park. Considering the vast size of this park, if a visitor wants to truly explore the park, it's essential to stay in the park. Otherwise, too much time is spent accessing the park rather than enjoying it.

My husband and I both really loved this campground. We stayed four nights, and even got rained on, but we had a great time. The cost is reasonable, and there are lots of sites to choose from. The guys working at the camp store (where they handle the campground reservations) were very friendly and helpful. Even in late July, the campground was nowhere near full - we found a nice, shady spot, surrounded almost entirely by only other tent sites...

Get there early in the day for a choice site, although most are good and shady. Clean restrooms, free showers, and a convenient location right there in the park. Don't miss the yummy and cheap pancake breakfast offered there.
