In-Town Camping with a Terrific Staff - from TripAdvisor.com
Stayed in the tent area in July 1972, close quarters between tents. For an in-town campground, it was great. Met a fella at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb who worked there. Although they were full that night, he told us about another place for that night. We moved to Garden of the Gods Campground (GGCG) the next night. I had my own personal guide of some of the beautiful sites around area with Colorado Springs and fell in love with the whole package. Moved there with pointers from the staff still. Fell in love even more. Had to return to Illinois for my dad was seriously ill & & needed surgery. Had planned to return, but roommate had an old friend returning to the area. I visit the places and events that I was shown on the original trip because I love what brought me back to live there. I visit when I can. Staff was constantly painting, updating things, fixing what needed fixing, etc., & gave their personal favorites places in the area some people don't know about. Wish I'd kept in touch with the owner at the time. He & his staff made my in-town camping great and felt looked out for me beyond what they had to do.

Best "in-town" Campground in the Springs! - from TripAdvisor.com
We really enjoyed our time at Garden of the Gods Campground. We stayed there for about 5 months in a travel trailer. This is not your wilderness campground. It is located beautifully at the base of the Rocky Mountains very near Manitou Springs, Garden of the Gods Park, Cliff Dwellings, Pike's Peak and Cave of the Winds.
The campground is well-kept, by very friendly staff. The sewer smell some write about is due to other campers not properly disposing of waste! Get proper RV equipment!
Two pools, arcade, and wireless internet. Also have internet available in the building on PC for free.
Showers were always neat and clean. Large Laundry facility.
I wouldn't recommend this campground for tenters. This is for RVers really. They do have very nice cabins for rent at a very reasonable price!
Families, couples, retirees... I highly recommend this place. Some people came and went after a couple/few days, others like us stayed for a couple months. It was really neat to meet all the other campers.
They have social events like ice-cream, and cook-outs. Fire rings, and grills provided. Groceries near-by, beer nearby! Have fun here! It was one of our favorite times in the Springs!

Avoid at all costs - from TripAdvisor.com
I booked to stay at Garden of the Gods two months in advance. When I arrived to check in the office was closed (they close at 5pm and I arrived at 5:30pm and they do not give you this information when you book with them). They had left a notice to say where I was to spend the two nights which is great but they did not leave a key! I went to the cabin thinking they had left the key inside but alas it was locked. I try to phone them and they do not have an emergency contact number so I left a message to say I would have to stay somewhere else obviously and could they please provide a refund as they had already processed payment on my credit card.
It has been two weeks and they have not replied to my emails or phone calls and now they will not give me a refund of over $100 for two nights accommodation I was not able to use because they did not leave a key for me.
I have traveled all over the world and this stop was part of a 2 month road trip across America. Never before have I experienced this situation where I have been so badly done by. It leaves me very sad with the whole situation and I really do not know what to do as I would like my money returned to me.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible cabins - from TripAdvisor.com
Well we went to the Garden of the Gods Campground expecting to be staying in a cabin which was stated, and instead these so called cabins were a very small two room building used for migrant farm workers to stay in. There was a table that was broken and wobbled you couldn't put heavy things on it. The bedroom part was bunkbeds and one twin bed, and the mattress was horrible and broken down in the middle so bad that u sunk toward the middle when trying to sleep. The brochure made it sound like you would have free coffee and doughnuts in the morning which was not the case. you had to pay for everything. No air conditioning was available in the cabins even when it was so hot at night it made you sick. They need a ceiling fan in the cabins. You couldn't open up one window cause there was no screen and the mosquitoes were everywhere. For what I paid I could have stayed across the street at a motel and received a free breakfast, as well as cable tv and air conditioning and a swimming pool. The balancing rocks were great to see and worth the visit. I feel like they overcharged way too much for what they call a cabin. Which it isn't.

Smelly but best campground for the area. - from TripAdvisor.com
Garden of the Gods campground is in the middle of a downtown art district. It was not at all what I expected, you are not surrounded by trees or a forest. There is a Starbucks down the street along with, Safeway grocery, KFC,and many more shops and eating establishments. The campground itself was by far the nicest in the area, but the area also has lots of bums which was unexpected. We pulled into the KFC and there were 4 bums sleeping in the grass. We went to a near by shopping area where a panhandler asked us for money. There was also the septic smell several people have mentioned, it was pretty rotten. But we drove around the area one night with our windows down and could smell it so I think maybe the city in general has some issues. On the other hand the showers were clean and hot, I never had to wait for one. The grounds were well kept, the people friendly, the pool was nice, and there is a playground. About the fire rings, the sites are so close together you have to be careful not to catch someones pop-up on fire. It rains at night a lot, so don't plan on having much of a fire anyway and bring rain gear.

Terrible for Tenters! - from TripAdvisor.com
We are tent campers and recently spent two weeks camping in New Mexico and Colorado. Garden of Gods was our worst experience out of the ten places we stayed. While it may be fine for an RV'er it's definitely not set up for tenters. When we got there we were cheerfully greeted and our money taken. ($33.00/night) Then we were escorted to the tent area. The sites are simply four two by fours nailed together into a small square about 5 feet apart with a picnic table in front. You may as well be sleeping in the same tent with your neighbors. There is no parking in the tent area so you have to park your car approximately 200 feet away and carry your tent, sleeping bags etc. back to your "site". In all fairness there is a stream flowing behind the sites but that doesn't make up for the high price or the lousy accommodations. You definitely feel like second class citizens in this park.

"Premium" Bunkhouse Room a Disappointment - from TripAdvisor.com
When making my reservation for the Premium Bunkhouse Cabin Room ($110 per night), I specifically asked for sleeping accommodations for three adults: one parent and two teenage boys (none of who want to sleep together!). As it turned out, we had only a pullout couch and a full size bed, so one of my sons slept on the floor. When I requested another pillow, I was told they "didn't have any". When I requested a late checkout (on a Tuesday) of 1:00, I was told no (we were biking down Pike's Peak and didn't get done it time.) They charged me $3 per hour for not checking out on time. We had to request extra towels (which we did get promptly) but there was no soap and no shampoo, etc. provided. The location was excellent, although hard to find because the streets all have 2 or 3 names. I guess for this price I didn't expect to be "roughing it" quite so much!

Just be careful - from TripAdvisor.com
We stayed here for two days in a 26ft RV. Nice, clean. View of mountains. The only problem I had was the smell of septic tanks while walking along the path. All the RV's were close together but I think almost all campgrounds in Colorado are like that.We stayed in 4 other campgrounds while touring Colorado and they were all like that. With all the land out there. Go figure! Also not all RV sites have fire rings so ask. Overall we would stay again.

Awesome - from TripAdvisor.com
I made my reservations 2 months prior to arriving at garden of the gods campground. I read reviews and was very careful due to all the negatives written about this place. Upon my arrival I was surprised at the superb service. I was immediately greeted by 2 very nice men who helped me get a spot to park and led me to the office. I was given my keys, coupons and blah, blah and was then guided by golf cart to my cabin. I had a spectacular mountain view. In front of the cabins, bunkhouses there is a 21 and up only pool. It was the cleanest pool I have ever swam in. I also had a horseshoe pit and it had horseshoes with it. My cabin was 5 minutes from Manitou springs, Manitou cliff dwellings, cave of the winds, and garden of the gods. The campground offers an awesome daily menu that is very cheap! They have ice cream socials, live music, watermelon partyies, Mexican Mondays, BBQ Wednesdays, Italian spaghetti Thursdays, and much more. Coffee and awesome apple fritters and bagels and more for breakfast. There isn't a meal over 6 dollars or a snack over 2 bucks. Now if you want to be in the right type of cabin you need to ask questions. If you have more than 2 people then you do not want to be in the new bunkhouses. They don't have showers or toilets in them. And the space is very very small. If you have the need for shower, toilet, sink and have 2-4 people I would recommend cabins # 6, 7, or 8. Just ask questions. There is no secret 3 dollar a day fee per person per day is mentioned in the other review. This is a very clean, friendly, convenient campground. If your looking for cheap good old fashion lodging with excellent friendly service come here.

I wont go back - from TripAdvisor.com
Well I called and booked my reservations with someone there at the office then when we arrived they put us in a bunkhouse way smaller than what I was suppose to be in so I went back and they told me it would be 110.00 a night instead of the 75.00 quoted for that room. I argued with them and got the room for 75.00 but the room what so old it was built in the 50's or something and it stunk like mildew I was very disappointed in this room if they would not have went down to 75.00 we would have left. There was a gas leak you could smell it. The staff was very nice and helpful. They have a nice pool that the kids have. Oh there is a hidden fee when you get there you have to pay 3.00 a day per person over 2 people. They do not inform you of this during reservations.{including kids} I would only recommend staying here if you have your own camper.
