A&A Mesa Verde Resort is kept very clean considering how awful most people are about cleaning up after themselves. A special thank you to the staff. I was also there during the fourth of July week-end and would not change the experience for the world. Nicely located across the street from the entrance to Mesa Verde.

5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars5.0 stars Wonderful Campground - from TripAdvisor.com
I just finished staying at A&A RV Park as a workamper for the last 3 months. It was a wonderful experience. The campground is kept very clean and has a homey appeal. There are some trees at some of the sites, but as this area is considered high desert, there aren't a lot. The tent sites all are shaded as are water and electric sites. Some of the full hook-ups have no trees, but that is OK as there are lots of owners who do not want trees blocking their satellite connections. The one area that the owners really shine in is the cleanliness of the restrooms/showers. They are immaculate. They are scrubbed everyday. Also the camping cabins are sanitized after every stay. Bobby & Becky have horses, goats, miniature horses and a miniature donkey as pets which adds a touch of country to the campground. The campground is directly across the highway from Mesa Verde National Park so is very convenient for those wishing to visit a wonderful park of our country's history. I would choose to stay at this campground any time I was in the area.

A&A Mesa Verde Campground and RV Park is a mom & pop operation. Bob & Becky bought this place 2 years ago and are in the process of rehabilitating what had been a run down operation. I cannot say enough about this operation because I broke a rib while staying there and as a solo full-timer, they have been there for all the help I need.
Google Earth has the wrong coordinates for this place and my site's Lat-Long were 37°20'37.49"N, 108°24'25.05"W Removed from highway traffic, it should not be confused with a Mesa Verde RV Resort located 1/2 mile to the east, directly on the highway.
Thumbs up on this place.

My wife and I stay at a fair number of different campgrounds in the course of exploring as cheaply as possible. All have some issues, and most have a few Good things about them. Unfortunately, we found more negative than positive with this campground.

First off, you should be warned that this is a Very typical SW desert setting. Lots of dirt, stunted trees and little to no green. The tent sites are covered in pea gravel, which is bearable to sleep on only if you have a sleeping pad like a thermostat. The maps for navigating the grounds aren't very good and we got Throughly lost upon arriving after dark. The bathrooms were clean and acceptable, which is about the best thing I can say about this site. The biggest issue was the near constant 'domesticated' wildlife making noise each night. The first night we were woken to the sound of cats fighting... it Must have been a cat version of Fight Club because it went on for over and hour. The second night is was dogs barking... 3am till sunrise. That combined with the rather noisy highway traffic made for very restless nights sleep. Maybe this isn't an issue for RVers with insulation, but consider this fair warning for those without insulation to bring and use earplugs.

There are a few 'amenities' at the site, such as a pool and hot tub, miniature golf, pool tables and a nightly bonfire. But these all must be shut down for the season at this point. Be warned that there is no Close food ~ you must bring your own or drive into Cortez (good sized town with all sorts of choices) or Mancos (small town with Only boutique eateries) ~ plan for about 15 minutes of driving for either. There is a gas station open days right near the site.

For all the pluses and minuses, the cost is exceedingly high by other standards set in CO, UT, NM and AZ and I have to associate that with the site being right at the main entrance to Mesa Verde. All things said, we would NOT stay here again and if it weren't for a 'no refunds for early departure' policy (wonder WHY they have that in place?), we would have left after only 1 night to find some place better.
