Love the place! Beautiful setting in the western hills of the park. See the Milky Way from your front porch! Comfortable and clean rooms. Friendly and cheerful staff, full of great conversation. Ben, the proprietor also happens to be an excellent cook. After breakfast, take your coffee mug onto the front porch and enjoy the sun lighting up the distant mountains. Even read the morning papers on your computer using the wifi. At night, after hiking... Read More >>

I had stopped here for lunch last year so when planning this trip I knew I had to stay here. The location is superb, you couldn't be any further from anywhere so it's a bit different from your normal motel. It was nice to be able to sit out on the veranda as it got dark and watch the headlights across the desert. The rooms are basic with no TV but after a day in Death Valley you'll be too tired to want to watch anyway, the only let down of the... Read More >>

Yes, the walls are paper-thin, the showers are better across the road at the campground, and the word "resort" is misleading. But the solitude is worth the price. The food is better than at Stovepipe Wells (a comparative small town) and Furnace Creek (a comparative city). But what brings me back year after year is the quietness. Darwin Falls may have a crowd of a dozen, but you're likely to have Panamint Dunes to yourself, and dining on the open... Read More >>

The solitude and natural beauty of the desert was unbelievable. After traveling all over the world to different "resorts" I found this the most relaxing and enlightening destination I've visited. The food is great and the staff are polite and friendly. Actually had a chance to meet the new owners and talked about plans for improvements to the place. I recommend this place to anyone who asks. I saw the negative reviews here, and just wanted to clarify something - the map shows the resort as being in Ridgecrest, when the truth is, it is about an hour's drive out into what is essentially uninhabited desert. It is one of those hideaway/getaway oases, not a Palm Springs style spa "resort". The food is expensive because it has to be trucked in from a long way. In fact everything does, including the power to run things and even the... Read More >>

After driving all day around Death Valley we were tired and needing to eat and sleep. Panamint Springs provided both of these more than adequately. The rooms although tired are comfortable and homely. The bar and food are worth visits on their own! Half a tree forms a bar and the staff, when they stop rushing around after guests, engage in interesting conversations. Panamint springs would be high on my favorite places to eat - the burger and... I can't express how horrible my stay was at Panamint Springs. The bathroom was so bad that I wouldn't take a shower, the drain was FULL of mold, There were no outlets in the bathroom and only one in the room which would not hold my camera charger, it fell out. There was a noise most of the night from the restaurant exhaust so I could not sleep in addition to hearing the snoring through the thin walls. When we got back for the second night I... Read More >>

Rustic, homey and great food. For a place in the middle of nowhere, I loved it. The owners were very accommodating For those of you who expect The Hilton or even A Holiday Inn, forget it. Stay at Furnace Creek. Read More >>

We too were mislead by the internet description, should have read the reviews! After arriving we decided that the broken curtain, sagging bed and "remodeled bathroom" was more than we could take. We asked to talk to the manager. He was rude and angry and immediately started to attack us verbally. Customer service was NOT in his vocabulary. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. I would advise using great caution when booking. Read More >>
