Cabin at Carlo Creek Lodge was great! - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
We loved staying at this place! It is south of Denali NP, about a 15 minute drive. We stayed in cabin #4, which was about 20-30 feet away from the nearest cabin. There was a very nice swift flowing creek about 20 feet from the back of our cabin and we could hear it at night as we were falling asleep. Our cabin had a double (maybe queen) bed and a twin bed. The bathroom and shower were small. The place was very quiet and the people in the office were very nice and helpful. Mom said that she would like to stay there for a week.

My family enjoyed it immensley - from TripAdvisor.com
|
My family stayed at Carlo Creek in 1 shared and 1 private bath cabin. They are so cute. The shared bath was built within the last 7 years and are still in great shape with clean linens and towels. The showerhouse was cleaned everyday we stayed and was very nice. They were not "communal".
The private bath cabin was more rustic but still great. It was an older cabin with new clean linens and a very clean bathroom. None of the rooms had TV or phone but I can't imagine why you travel to alaska for that. My children did bring their portable DVD player but never used it because they were too busy walking the trails around the property. I even was able to send photos online in their internet lounge area. The gift shop is small but nice and they also had laundry soap which was great because I completely forgot to pack any.
I would recommend this place to anyone who loves camping or staying in cabins nestled in the mountains. The young lady in the office was very helpful with out park trip.

Nice cabins convenient to Denali National Park - from TripAdvisor.com
|
We stayed in cabin #3 at Carlo Creek Lodge for two nights after our cruise. The cabin had very basic amenities that included 2 beds, one small side table, one wooden chair, and a small bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. It might be a bit rustic for some without a tv or phone but we really did enjoy the quietness of the area. Carlo Creek runs right behind cabin #3 so we could hear it with the window open. The cabin had a wooden swing right next to it where you could relax and enjoy the area. There are computers with internet service in the office building for guests to use.
The lodge is conveniently located near Denali National Park. It was about a 15-20 minute drive to the park from our cabin. There is no shuttle service from the lodge to the park so I would definitely recommend that you have a car if you stay at this lodge. There are some restaurants across the street from the lodge but the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge had better food.
The property is located in the trees with high mountains nearby. Campgrounds and cabins with shared bathrooms are also available at the lodge. Our cabin had a private bathroom. We took advantage of the clean laundry room which had working machines.
We stayed at a Princess hotel the following 2 nights and looking back we definitely would have stayed at Carlo Creek Lodge for another 2 nights had there been availability!

Fantastic! Recommended it to Friends and Family - from TripAdvisor.com

We were visiting from Michigan for a week and needed a place to stay at Carlo Creek Lodge on our way to Denali National Park. It was raining and the covered tent sites were great! We were able to have a secluded area with a covered picnic table and tent site so everything was dry in the morning. There are individual shower rooms which are decorated like a home. The wooden outhouses were extremely clean and not how you would picture an outhouse. Everyone was very friendly. I don't usually write reviews for places I stay but had to on this one. I was very impressed!

Authentic Alaskan lodging near Denali - from TripAdvisor.com
|
We stayed 2 nights in a cabin at Carlo Creek Lodge near Denali National Park, in July 2005.
There are 9 cabins, plus a campground. I enjoyed the variety of people staying there; from Alaskans on vacation in tents, people in rented RVs from "outside", to families from all over the world staying in the cabins.
We were in cabin #5, which was roomy and very comfortable. The creek ran right behind the cabin, so with the windows open at night you could hear the water rushing by. It was far enough back in the property that highway noise wasn't a problem.
The cabins aren't new, but were nicely kept up, and had nice Alaskan touches like caribou antlers to hang towels in the bathroom, and clothes in the main room. All the cabins had burl posts and furniture on the front porches (see picture).
Unique Qualities: The location is 12 miles south of the main park entrance, but nearby (across the highway) are a couple good restaurants. I'll write reviews for The Perch, and Panorama Pizza separately.
There is a coin-op laundry on site, in a nice, clean building, with counters for folding, chairs and magazines.

Would Stay There Again - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
Carlo Creek is a bit of a drive from Denali National Park, but is certainly worth the drive. It is less congested than the area near the park and less expensive too. The rustic cabins are nice, and very clean. The woman who runs the place was wonderful. She was very accommodating for our late arrival and gave us suggestions as to what to see. Highly recommended!

Where I would stay in Denali - from TripAdvisor.com
|
|
I was looking for an affordable, nice, authentic, cozy, charming, Alaskan log cabin to stay in while visiting Denali National Park. I found that at Carlo Creek Lodge on the web and booked 2 nights. The property is an original homestead and the the owner Denise really represents true Alaskan hospitality. She was a no frills, genuine, accommodating person. The property itself is on thirty or so acres with a nice campground on the premises, with Carlo Creek running along side it. It is 12 miles away from the busy, congested, Denali Park entrance, surrounded by woods with views of the snow sprinkled mountains. The cabins themselves are brand new and that includes the mattresses (so comfy) pillows (so fluffy), the carpets, and flannel sheets. Our cabin was a two bed with no bathroom for only $70 a night in peak season.! Nothing I found anywhere else for the same amenities was under $100. The central shower house was only 10 feet away and super clean with four very big private shower/bathrooms, two w/2 stalls (nice for couples or people with kids). There are cabins in all sizes and some with private bathrooms. Every day there was turn down service with fresh towels and bed makeup. There was a laundry room on the premises too. It was so cozy and comfy and pleasant we booked it again and went back at the end of our trip for our last few nights in Alaska.
